Lighting How many lights do I need

how many lights do I need to provide light for 50 plants
In 5 gal pots will 2 1000w hps lights work

how many square feet is the room you'll be using? 50 plants is a lot of work for a new grower. how do I know you are a new grower? If you weren't you wold know how much light you need?

N the room is 120 square foot

Ok then 120 Sq Feet.. on average 50 watts per Sqf. 75 would be better

50= 6000

75= 9000

So all in all you need 6 to 9 1000 watter's....oooooow eeeeeee that's the big times Better get a 10,000 BTU. A/C while your at it and about 5- 20 inch fans and a couple carbon filters, and better put all them bulbs in a vented hood or cool tubes.

4 x 600W might be a better option. The important factor is how many lumens the plants are receiving, the amount of watts per sq ft is only a rough guide. You'd get better coverage with 4 lamps than with 2 and you could also get the 600Ws closer to the canopy without burning the tips. So overall the plants would get more lumens.
