Ok so I am getting as much info as possible for my first auto grow and was wondering when do I switch seedlings to MH or Hps . I am doing Dutch passion auto blueberry and paradise vertigo
That's a hard one to answer strait. This really depends bro on how you grow. For instance I tried skipping the CFL/T5/LED veg and use strait MH. Well they were to far away and I end up causing more harm than good. Now that I rigged up my T5's the plants are doing much better and have exceptional growth.
I guess and what I'm gonna guess many people will tell you is veg under CFL until they either show sex or are tall enough to tier.
EX: an Auto will grow 2-3X the length its taproot is (Sometimes you get crazy Pheno's) and only achieves maybe 25% of its total height in Bloom. So in a 16oz party cup is what 5"? Ok so when your plants are 9" tall I'd switch your next set up because if you stunt a tap root for more than a few days it will stunt the plant. Now this is a Auto only trait.
So if you have a 14" Tall pot your plant will finish right around 2 feet tall with no training.
This should take you roughly 2 weeks under CFL with good growth to get 9" or so and transfer to your HPS? Just make sure that the HPS is a distance away that will maximize growth. Don't wanna pull a me lol.
Awesome advice thanks allot . I also was wondering is it better to not transplant an auto should I throw the beans in the two gallon containers right away
1-2 sets of true leafs i would say or until it starts to stretch.
If your 2g has a good drainage mix i would plant direct but be careful not to over water

If you are using fem seeds, or if have enough space to accomadate the extra pots for the males, I say germ strait in the final container. If you are using reg seed and want to wait untill sex before transplanting females in thier final home, I say use the tierd transplant method explained by fullduplex in his guide to growing hefty autos in small places. Here is a link http://www.autoflower.org/f5/fds-guide-growing-hefty-autos-small-places-206-2.html I think it is post #17 where this method is explained. The less you disturb the roots of an autoflower, the better. They live such shorth lives, there is not enough time to recover fully from stunting.
I went with fem seeds for my first order after reading other post I don't think I will buy fem autos I'll stick with regular seeds . Smash do you start fem seeds with your hps I have read more chance of hermies from the hps stressing the seeds
