I have always placed my plants in the dark a few days before harvest. How important is this? The reason I ask is I have a girl that got to big on me and I have no place to put it the dark.
Some people say by putting plants in total darkness for two or three days increases the trychome production but I don't know of any real studies that have been. done to prove this, and I can't say if it works or not but it sure would be nice if it did.:smokebuds:
I do it only because I hear it helps. I like to throw my plants in for 48 hours of darkness after a complete flushing when the tricomes are about 1/4 amber. Usually after 2 days of darkness I get 1/2 tricomes at amber which happens to be when I like to chop.. But would it have occurred anyways? Ya prolly.. Who knows...
from what ive read and seen it is the plants last chance to carry on its genetics so its trys to stock pile sticky trichs to collect pollen and seed itself. havent seen a side by side to support the theory but it makes sense. probably not something that is seen by the naked eye :joint:

This may be true, but wouldn't it also give you a better chance of going herme as well??
But I have tried it, and I don't know if there was a difference. Maybe someone should experiment. I would if I could ever get my plants to become mature at the same time. That has yet to happen. I guess you could do it also if you were used to a certain kind of pheno and new all the grow characteristics.
