Indoor Hot soil grow.

Ya I have done this a few times. I don't know if I should be washing the perlite or something. I have burned with it a few times and this is using it in different soils side by side. The pearlite being the only thing I added to both soils. Last time it was happy frog soil with pearlite for one plant and the other was 9 month feed miracle grow with pearlite for the other plant. Both had the same burning. I was using bottled water and it was early in there life. I have burned with it a few times. I don't understand why it would do this but I have done it enough that I know that is what it is. I also have added it to one plant and not another in the same soil (happy frog) and did this.

So watered with my silica and cal/mag water today and used the last I had in my gallon left. I think it was about 30 ounce of water left. I had mixed about 1 teaspoon of cal/mag and 2 teaspoon on silica in the gallon and this time I have noticed a big difference in the plant growth. It is hitting that spot in the bloom were the plant has its growth spurt though. I have not noticed much in the color changing though yet just a growth spurt. Going to just use plain water this week and see how things look on Monday or so before I start feeding again. Going to water a little heave too so I have a good amount of run off this week to flush a little of the nutes out. When I start watering again I will be using cal/mag at 1 teaspoon, about 1 table spoon of big bloom and silica to correct the PH to 7 which will be about 1 teaspoon so do this. The week after this I should be able to start adding some Tiger bloom to the feeding cycle. The reason I am adding the cal/mag to every feeding is my water has no calcium to buffer the PH and my PPH is 4 due to it being bottled water and the cal/mag I think is bringing it up to around 100 PPM but am not for sure as I have not been using my PPM meter due to not having calibration solution for it. I do know it is buffering my PH though when I add it as I have tested the PH with and with out when I add nutes.

So here is my red dwarf I did in my "hot soil" if you will. I had to start feeding it at day 30. I wanted to go whole grow just soil but it need food. I am pretty happy though as I went a whole month in to my grow with just water and cut out 2 weeks of feeding. I think my problem was my pot is too small. I might be able to cut out another 1 or 2 weeks with a larger pot.

Here is my haze auto I started in plain happy frog 4 days after my red dwarf I started feeding at week 2. Might be the strain but I think my feeding was off and I started with the cal/mag to late and stunted it a little. Going to turn out good but I will probably only get 1 oz compared to the other plant that will probably do 2. I need a grow tent real bad. My space is too small. I have about a 2X3 grow area with a 600W light. Adding the AC to the room has made a huge difference. I have had the light as close at 12" and the plants are just fine. I think I was starting to light bleach some leaves so I raised it to about 20" now. I would like to have a 3.5 X 3.5 tent and run 5 gallon pots down the road. Would be a lot better and allow me to grow more plants. I like the growth pattern of the red dwarf but it dose not smell yet. It has not started producing tricomes so maybe it will get stinky but so far neither smell much. The haze started to have a nice smell about a week ago but it went away. Feeding with happy frog big bud 2 teaspoons , tiger bloom 1 teaspoon, cal mag 1 teaspoon and silica 2 teaspoon for PH up per gallon. This is giving me a PH of 7.2 and using this as of now on both plants. Yester day they were both fed about 1/4 gallon apiece after a light watering. Tomorrow I will water lightly and then split the other half of the gallon between them.

Thanks as you can see things are a little off. I had a PH problem I had to correct but things are going pretty good. I am liking the roots soil and fox farm trio pack of nutes I am using a lot. I have been growing the other way around for years with happy frog soil and roots organic nuts. This way is way better. Better soil and better nutes now.

Its about 1+ week tell harvest now. Not perfect but will be a an ok yield. The buds are dense. Had a few problems in the grow but all in all it is going to turn out ok. Had a PH problem, light bleaching from the light being too close and over fed a little while ago and had to flush and re feed. Plant is starting to turn yellow as it ripens and I will be doing a full flush in a few days to get ready for harvest. My light is pretty new, new strain for me, new soil and new nutes so I guess mistakes are going to happen. Not bad but not perfect as you can see from the picks. At least the buds are tight and I did not stunt the plant right? Odor is about middle of the road and smells skunky, green and sour. Will see how it smells after a dry and cure.

Any one know why my leafs on the top are pointing up? I don't have a mag problem, the light is a 600W at about 18-20" from plant and my PH run off is 6.6 as of now. I don't have a working PPM meter so it could be over fed still as I only flushed with 2 gallons of water and it is in a 2 gallon pot. I have not had any significant burning or anything. I am wondering if it is my PH up as I am using potassium silicate and I have to use a lot to raise my nutes. I have to use 1-1 when feeding with tiger bloom.

Harvest time...
