There are several apps for those using phones, that will help you with your light. Probably a better way to go than investing in a meter. Accuracy in this case is not terribly important, you just want to know how much light your getting from your light at a certain height above the canopy.

I'm sure there are recommendations from afn members on them, I don't use my smartphone for internet, or add apps to it.

If you have an Iphone, this is the app that Migro tested out within 10% accuracy. It costs a few bucks to open up the LED version https://growlightmeter.com/

Ive been using the tent buddy app for a while to get a rough dial... I doubt its super accurate, but it also comes with a vpd calculator and it's good for getting it in the ballpark.

Modern phones have very good sensors these days specially iPhone am Samsung I used tent buddy for ages and It wasnt that far off there is a way u can do an equation to work out all that stuff too . Not sure if it's to convert lux to par off top of my head but info is out there . But I no u can get reliable estimate from tent buddy

If anyone in the UK - alex at vivid who sells hlg lights also rents pro par meters to really dial in. Possibly worth it for the big lights. For a little one an android phone has more options I think than an iPhone for apps. The light meter I recommended is great - for me it really helped me work it approx ppfd. And it’s spread in the tent. Being relatively new it helped me to keep my plants happy as I still learn to read them. I saw that migro is dialling in another cheap meter to an app so worth looking at that too. Without wanting to spend loads of money- the other tip I had is to get a cheap watt meter. Yiou can use that to help as well. But for me the piece of kit I go back to is that 25 quid light meter. It’s paid for itself so many times over. I can tinker with height and light intensity. I can move plants to the hotter spots if they need it and at times when I had different age plants I clild
Take advantage of the cooler spots for the little ones.

Migro light dude tested out all the popular apps against an apogee meter and only 1 remotely close was Photone app AND THAT WAS ONLY ON IOS! He said the app on android devices was junk and nowhere near accurate! He’s got a chart on his IG page on how the tests came out on same light at same distance across the different apps! Def worth the $5 cost to unlock full spectrum LED on it!

App used to be called Korona but name was changed not too long ago to Photone! I’m guessing it’s prob the obvious reason as to why name got changed!

Yep. Thinking the "k" vs "c" wasn't quite enough "separation". I can just imagine how those executive manager meetings went....

Feb 2020- "What there is some cold or something in China that has the same name as our company?...That's kinda weird".

March 2020 -"I am sure it will blow right over. Besides isn't this bug that they are talking about spelled starting with a c? The first letter of our company name is K. I fail to see why this should effect our company in any way".

April 2020- "Why am I just now finding out that our company is named after a plague...and what is our plan to solve it?" asks the CEO with angry glare; a glare which the GM immediately passed on to the VP of Sales,". ...and so it goes around the table until Anthony the VP of of Marketing passes said glare and perceived question associated on to his assistant. His assistant at the time had her own vital issues (instagram related), so she responded with "On the Phone Tony" which choppy zoom meeting came through as "Photone"....and a new company was born....sort of...but not really.✌

Same here! Too much tracking across everything. I did buy a burner smartphone and only use it on public wifi with a vpn. It's so cheap you can still even take the battery out, which I do. Bite my shiny foil hat!
