I have a plan.. acquire a larger more suitable flood tray and stick the remains on the table with the other flood and drainers for another week or so.. let's see if I can get that sorted.. the biggest issue is drilling holes in the new tray I shit u not lol I mean I can pick the tray up any day.. but I don't have a 30mm hole saw nor have I ever used one or want to start using 1 on this project and other methods are risky to say the least.. my drill phobia strikes again hahaha

Lol… always sketchy drilling holes into your new tray. If you can find yourself one of these it will make your job a lot easier.
Did you ever get that 32x32” tray you were looking at a few weeks ago?

Absolutely brother.. if it cracks and I have to get another one the trusty apprentice will bash me with a blunt instrument perhaps shaped like a frying pan lol

That drill bit looks the job mind u

Haven't picked the tray up yet but local hydro shop has them so that's an easy one.. wasn't planning on needing it for a few weeks.. next grow.. but may as well crack on now.. syringing 1L out and back in after every flood.. using a 100ml syringe is becoming something of a chore as u can imagine :nono: thanks for the drill advice my man :vibes:

Should be good with that drill bit bro. Wouldn’t want you to upset the apprentice and get bashed on the head with a frying pan. Lol! :nono:

Is there any way you can slightly angle the tray you’re using by putting a couple small pieces of cut plywood on the back corners of your reservoir to give the tray a gradual taper towards the drain?

Not really much I can do with it such is the shape of the bottom.. it bows in the middle and has 4 dips.. 1 in each corner acting as sort of feet.. like why not make it flat and keep it simple!! No thought for the DIY flood and drainer bro :rolleyes1: :crying: :naughtystep:

If you have a scrap piece of plywood laying around there you could cut it to the dimension of the outer perimeter of your tray then cut out a notch for your drain and have your tray sitting on top of the plywood which would be resting on the rim of your resevoir. Your tray would sit flat on the firm piece of plywood and shouldn't bow after that. Might also encounter the same issue with the new tray you’re considering getting.

I'll absolutely be setting the new tray up on its own flat table/frame m8.. and if I can't pick up the new flood tray tomorrow I'll see what I can find lying around to get this tray balanced.. that is part of my problem.. its off level generally.. its a see through tub so easy to spot when it's filling! Learning on the job!

If you use a piece of plywood for a base your new tray should be fine just resting on the rim of your reservoir if you don’t want to go through the hassle of making a stand for it.
When I was growing flood&drain in my 32x32” tents I was so limited on height I didn’t have enough head room for a stand. I did what you’re doing and had the trays sitting directly on the reservoir.
Here’s my ebb&flow set up in my 27x27” tent with the tray on top of the reservoir. I drillied out a couple openings on the top rim for a pump out hose that I can slide in and out and electrical cords. To maintain the reservoir I just slide the tray back a few inches and dip my PH and PPM pens in there and top off with fresh nutes.

Thats the best thing for drilling holes..
Heres a tip when using a drill bit on plastic...
Drill to near the hole size diameter and try squeeze the fitting on.
Or use the drill & bit with no power and turn it untill its the right size slowly.
