Thanks trifid that's very kind of you to say. I also read your journal as well. I believe my next grow I will get more in depth with my medium, nutes, feeding schedule, grow
Space ect. I was on other forums for the last 15 years and started my journal here kind of out of the blue. I was trying to focus more on my auto growing and felt this would be the best place to read,
Learn and share knowledge with other auto growers. I started growing autos about 2 years ago. As I look back I think I should have been more detailed in my postings from my 1st
Post of the journal but then I really didn't know that I would be finding a home here and abandoning my other forums. So I'll make up for it in my next journal. Rather then saying a 25% mix of perlite, FFOF and homeade organics actually explain what I make my base with and my additives. I should be starting either a original Jem grow or a magic dragon grow beginning of Febuary. First I have to harvest these baby's. Tomorrows a clean 0 ppm bubbled water feeding then around 3 days later 4.8 grams of shooting powder with a tbs of molasses per gallon of
Ph'd bubbled water. After that I'll start my flush. Were almost there

I'd love to hear more about your base and what additives you're using.. The shooting powder is very powerful - I believe this is the major constituent of the Bud Blood products and others. I've used shooting powder for my outdoor crops as soil additive with humic acids past couple years and had some amazing results in the first weeks of flowering at 600 ppm, though I usually push my ladies to 1000PPM+ in the final few weeks. I've abstained from using it recently with my indoor project since i wanted to look at the effects of yeast extracts and cyanobacteria (marine algae) as home-made stimulators in a fertile media using just mild fish emulsions (<3%) for veg growth and Potassium sulphate (potash) for flowering. Your thread is very informative Captain, will look forward to your next journal :D

My soil is pretty generic and the base can easily be changed. I have used anything from miracle grow organic to FFOF. for photo grows I can beef it up a little more. For autos a base I like to use is light warrior. I use 3 gallon pots indoors and 5 outdoors and for photos. Say I'm growing 8 autos I'm my 3 gallon pots. I'll take a 35 lb bag of light warrior. I will add 1 cup bat guano, 1 cup sea bird guano, 1 cup kelp meal, bone meal and blood meal and 2 cups lime. I then mix in 25-30 % perlite. I like to keep my soil light and fluffy. Easier for roots to grow and spread out and better drainage. I then mix in about 2 gallons of water and let it sit for about a month. After sitting I will mix it again and fill my pots. I have never had a problem with this burning my autos or photos. It seems to work well for me. I do not feed my plants at all for the first 3-4 weeks. Just 0 ppm Ph'd bubbled water. At the first sign that they need a feeding I will start monster grow at 1/4 strength. I feed monster grow all the way up to week 5-6 upping the dose to 1/3-1/2 if they can handle it. Tho I have showed some burn before at 1/2 strength. Even when my autos shoot pistils and start to flower i continue to feed veg bytes because they still grow up and out and to me that is still veg. The plants that are further along at 5-6 weeks will start to get sea kelp 0-15-11 at a quater strength also. When they are at full bloom I start monster bloom at same dosage as the grow weeks 5-7. When I see that they have about 3 weeks left I will give them shooting powder in 2 doses. What I have figured to work best is 2.4 grams per gallon of water first then there 2nd dose is doubled to 4.8 then I start the flush. This has always worked well for me, My plants and my space. If I missed something sorry I'm at work and typed this out on my phone and it timed me out and had to re write it. Till next time peace.

I like to keep my soil light and fluffy. Easier for roots to grow and spread out and better drainage - I like this  you are clearly speaking from experience here - This is a crucial factor to a successful project often overlooked by many a new grower..

the grow is looking good mate!

I love a good 600hps grow!

Thanks bailer! when I first started indoors I used a 400 watt switchable ballast and would run a MH for veg and HPS for flower. A few years ago I upped to a 600 HPS with a son agro grow bulb. Just last year I went with a new reflector and a 600 watt hortilux bulb and I have to say my plants and I are loving it. I see alot denser bud growth and a healthier plant. More lush and squat. I like it better for veg even then when I was running the 400 MH. The hortilux has a more advanced blue spectrum in the bulb and out performs the son agro as well.

Yea they are more concerned with what they see above the soil not realizing it's what's below the soil that predicts the outcome of what grows above. The healthier and happier the roots, the bigger, healthier plant and yield.

Also 1 cup of Epsom salts for magnesium. I knew when it timed me out at work and I re wrote it I had to miss something. Now like I said the base can be whatever you prefer. My cousin uses pro mix, brother uses good old scotts and I have used everything under the sun in my years. Mostly light warrior or sunshine # 4.

All the girls received Ph'd 0 ppm 24 hour bubbled water yesterday. Upon inspection of all bud sites I have noticed a good amount of new bud growth and some intense swelling of all main colas and some of the lower buds have almost doubled in size. The effects of the last feeding of shooting powder is showing. In 2-3 days I will be giving my last feeding for atleast 3 of the girls. Double the dose of the first feeding. 2.4 grams per gallon to 4.8 grams. It looks like my 2 largest Big Bangs will be the biggest yielders and last to finish. An early guess is around 40-50 grams per plant on them 2. The 3 closest to the finish are all Blue Mystics and Should pull 30-40 grams of each of them a piece. I will update with photos in 2 days before the last shooting powder dose and then again 2-3 days after that so I can give you guys a view of the effects of it. Til then :peace:

Heres a 10x image of the under side of a leaf I forgot to upload the other day. I can not get a good picture with my 30x scope through my phones camera but the 10x seems to work ok. Some nice stalks can be seen on the under side with the 10x glass. Check it out. Full update coming in 2 days. Stay tuned.
