Help with Ryders think their overwatered but not drying out!

Hello Tj

Having any better luck? It occurred to me that you might have a high humidity around the plants keeping them from drying down. If that's the case, you need to drop it so the soil ball can dry down considerably. I went through a bad phase of that, it causes some root rot and stunted growth. Now I'm seeing 20 to 40% winter season humidity with no problems. Happens outside too in a wet, wet spring, and often when manure is mixed in. I think you mentioned a lack of a big root ball somewhere. If you look in on them often, you can just let them dry down until you see the leaves nodding, starting to wilt down some, and that's the time to water. I finally got a pretty good mix I think with Bonnie Mix ( about like ProMix but with no starter nutrients, and costs 2/3 as much). Maybe you can uppot them to a larger pot of dry soil and let that equalize some of the moisture and give the roots somewhere to run.

It takes a little work but that's how it's done, by trial and error until you get what works, and then stick with that. Sounds like you're learning it, so just keep at it.

On the other hand that may not be the problem at all.
