OG, got a ? for ya

I'm just now going all organic. I was reading on the back of the bottles and it says if not used within 1 hour, it needs to be aerated. Can I make up 3 gallons and say I only use 1/2 of it and the other 1/2 sits for a week. After aeration, is it still good?
It also says not to use an air stone, but to use one that makes large bubbles. Can I do this in a 5 gallon bucket? And, would an aquarium air pump work. Or can I use my air compressor from the garage? I was just afraid of contaminants from that...

Now I have a question for all of you.
I have a 300 gallon rain barrel I'm collecting water in to water the girls with. After a while the water looses oxygen. Didn't really think about it to much, but today I went to use it and checked it's ph, and it was low, around 5.2. I got to thinking about something I read and got me a piece of hose and blew into the gallon water jug. I then checked the ph again. It went up to 5.8 So I blew into the water some more and it finally stabilized at 6.2 Did I put enough air into the water to stabilize the ph? Or what went on here?

Thanks guys

I wouldn't stop aerating an organic mix if it says to aerate after just an hour if you're not using it. You could risk killing off microbes and enzymes that can't survive an anaerobic environment. I'd just keep it aerated. You could try just taking the end of the air line coming from your aquarium pump and putting it into the bottom of the bucket. See if that gives enough movement to the solution. If not, then poke some holes into the tubing from maybe a foot to the end. Then put that into the bucket. Airstones get nasty with that stuff... at least mine did.

The air is what stabilizes my rain water why it is setting and keeps it at 6.2-6.5. I found this out early when i started treating my rain water on a regular basis. I have a 50 gallon plastic drum catching my water. When i need some i filter it into 5 gal buckets and then add a 20gal pump and stone and let it go till the bucket is gone. the ph never changes :D

EDIT: i see ILI referenced the hefty thread.....nice work.

You know I was just wondering the other day why there isn't a organic growing section on here. Smashed uses the GO line maybe he would have some input on that. After seeing his results with that line, makes me wanna try organics myself.

There has been an amazing difference since I started useing General Organics a line of organic nutes from GH. I've made the mistake of leaveing a half empty water jug over nite,, that thing stunk so bad! Also in my aero system it would stink for a couple days & then settle down, seems I needed to adjust ph more at first also but after a few days it stablized at 5.8. I would not suggest making more than you need. Btw, what line of nutes you useing?

Well just my :2cents: i went with Humboldt Natural Line suppose to be 100 pct organic but bc i picked up FFOF and i think a non organic catalyst i picked up royal flush to flush with at the end to take out any heavy crap i dont want in there i have a thread up on it with some pics

I've been using the same general organics line of nutes you have
i tried them on my patio containers of tomatos.
i only mix 1 gallon at a time and use it all for that feeding,
but i have 8 plants in 5 gallon pots.
for tomatos i used the feeding schedule recommendations.
this is our first season with these and they work great,
i like the fact that they are organic.

Same stuff as u and RSV1

Why oh why didn't I come to u. I knew you had rain water to. Just what I needed

Since your ph is stable at 6.2 6.5, do you ever need to adj your ph a tad or you leave it alone?
