New Grower HELP GUYS - Annoying problem - surface breaking

Thanks muddy for directing your attention to my problem. The changes i made this morning worked. I beilve it was all a mater of the room temp. 75 is to cold for a grow tent. Once the temp in the tent hit 83 degrees and stayed there for a few hours them seeds JUMPED!! they are definitive not dominate no more

I just hate it that i lost all of my MI5 pack due to this problem :cuss: only 1 mi5 out of the 10 pack ever broke the surface

Don't feel bad, we've all been there at one time or another. Just happy that your others have sprouted.

Very interesting Muddy. I put mine more like 1/4" down but I have to sometimes bust the shell off with my thumbnail. When my room settles down after the bug spray I plan to start fifty seeds. I will plant half at 1/4 and half at 1/2 all in the same tray. I set my trays with the too on on top of my heating pad at 3 on the thermostat. I try for 90 degrees inside. I let the morning sun shine on the container but the temperature stays much the same.

Sativa photos need higher temps to germ and if you think about it, it makes sense. They come from warmer climates so need the warmer temps. Not 100% sure but I would expect the same with autos.

At one point I wasn't setting my seeds deep enough. The tap root would force the seed above the surface before the seed had opened enough. Once the seed was exposed to the air it would dry out and never open the rest of the way. Now I put them about 1/2" down and they are doing much better.
