Outdoor Hello the Girls!

ay up spliffscott - thank you for your advice, sir. - yes, i have a friend who has grown lowryder over the last couple of years and it's been a good friend to him and I guess by association, me! this is my first time growing and so I wanted something that even I might have a fair shot at. - and yes, thank you for your tip re mould, my pal had a bit of that last year and warned me about it.

love your snaps - the camouflage is great! Is that rosemary you've got it in amongst? - bet it really masks the smell as well?

am gonna look up purple ryder - are you happy with it?

have a good day buddy and thank you for replying.

cheers

I have been trying several varieties this year - Northern Lights Auto - Mighty Midget Auto - and Diesel Ryder Auto, but given the poor start to the year weather wise I started some Purple Ryder only a week and a half a go just to fill in in case some of the others failed (a bit of a late start) - so they've just made it into the coldframe. I'm hoping we get some good weather July and August and that some of the others will be close to finishing by then so that I can reclaim the coldframe for the Purple Ryders as the weather deteriorates (ha ha - not that its been good). Given the poor weather I think I'm going for number of small yields as opposed to fully finished plants - but still a couple of months of ??s to go.

This was from another thread :

Here are my girls :

The mutant image was taken back in Mid May - but it's still struggling along and getting bushier. The netting staked around some of the plants outside is just to stop the cat digging holes for a shite - once some of the weeds grow back these will be removed (or have the Purple Ryders inserted (probably in sunken pots so I can move them back to shelter if required). These images were taken a couple of weeks ago and i'm glad to say despite the lack of sun - stretchy plants - all but the mutant are showing good flower formation and potential - we just need sun.

As an aside note - are you sure your Lowryders are Feminised (that was marketed under the name Easy Ryder by the Joint Doctor). I know that my LowRyder 2's came as regular seeds and I had to weed out the boys with balls pretty quick). The Purple Ryder and Diesel Ryders I'm growing this year are feminised (but best to keep an aye on them all anyway) - but I wasn't aware that the Lowryder / Lowryder 2 had been feminised and sold under that name - Easy Ryder was the feminised version). Theres a link here to the history of lowryder http://www.seedsman.com/en/origins-of-lowryder/

Here's a Lowryder with balls (male) - discard immediately if you get one of these.

cheers man - very kind of you. great info there. yes, I bought the seeds whilst I was in amsterdam and they were packaged as autoflowering feminised seeds - to be fair though whilst I was there I was a little caned and forgot to find a decent place to buy seeds from and ended up getting them from a place that felt a little bit more touristy than I've had liked! Since I've been hanging around this site I've learned loads more about all the different varieties that are available. It's mind blowing!

Here are some new pics of the girls that I've just taken.... any thoughts/advice most welcome!

Looks good - just give them sun and love hehe.

Given the time from when you potted them on you should see a growth spurt soon (as the roots will have re-established) and the start of flowering soon after. It's a quick variety and very compact. For Lowryder I really don't think you need bigger pots for an outdoor grow - just a dose of feed every so often.

Sunshine & Love. I could do with a bit of that myself! Im gonna tell the missus we're going on holiday. - second thoughts, think i'll leave her at home! - reminds me of that old joke 'i said to the missus, "where do you fancy going on holiday?" - she said "ooh, what about some where I've never been?" I said "good. Try the fucking kitchen!' -

Mate, have a lovely weekend and thanks for the advice.

These are my Purple Ryders - they were a late start as we got battered by gales and I thought I might loose a few of the other young plants. But being started late it would be nice to have them in pots so I can move them to sheltered places. Unfortunately family holiday crept up on me and I had to dump them in the ground just so they wouldn't dry out in the pots. So I suspect they will take a bit of a hit when I dig them up again (might leave one to see how it gets on in the wild into September just for comparison).
