The silica was working so well I kinda just stuck to that.
Ok, yeah I've seen that aound.I wouldn’t use that gypsum in my water that’s meant for amending soil.. This is the stuff you want same company and it is actually OMRI or you can get from BAS they have solution grade in a large bag cheap

OK, thanks MOG I figured it was good to keep it moving but wanted confirmation.Hi guys, It is a good idea to continually stir your reservoirs and top-off tanks with either a small pump or airstone. Small pumps will not heat the reservoir up but if that is a concern use an air pump and stone.
Be sure to use Soluble Gypsum in hydro, the other is fine in soil. I got a 10# bag from Build-a-soil for cheap. Probably a lifetime supply!

We all found out the hard way to keep the tank and filter clean. Black slime will build up in a week if an air stone is used. I'm not sure if adding air will change the PH. Something else must be going on in those cases. Adding anything to the tank but very clean water will cause problems. Auto pot USA came out with a larger diameter hose system and aqua-valve. Too bad I have so much $$ invested in what I have now.I think a air stone will do the same thing I ran one in my rez before and didn't see much difference both are doing very similar things.. Breaking surface tension which puts oxygen in the water too..
Bacteria building up is going to happen on anything in a rez ie: heaster, pump, air stone which is why IMO it is a good idea to clean your rez weekly if not bi weekly at most
Airstones I know without a doubt will raise pH. Whether it's tap water, or r/o it will effect your pH. Tap has buffers in it that lessen the effects, but r/o doesn't and it jumps. I have only use on clean water in their own gallon containers. All have the same results. So I have seen the proof in the pudding. I plan on a wave move which isn't supposed to raise pH, but we will see. I put only R/O in my reservoir and keep water level low. I only do 2 plants so every couple day I put some in. I top feed a bloom booster, and tea's so I turn reservoir off once every week to 10 days to do so. I didn't even measure my pH last grow lol. Once I get the wave maker I will check to see if pH is effected. Nice thing with organics is pH isn't a big deal unless it's way off, so I don't think it will be an issue. We all found out the hard way to keep the tank and filter clean. My 1st organic grow was with NLS, and they recommend 6.2-7 maybe 7.2 memory is a little foggy lol. 6.5 being the target. Rosin was best smelling/tasting I've had yet. Last grow my 2nd organic I reused soil, and amended with Craft blend. I didn't pH and had another great grow. Taste is missing this time, but still curing so may get better. My next grow I'm doing NLS again, but I will not pH this time and see out come. I use to cut tap with r/o, but I have chloramine not chlorine since you can't evaporate the chloramine I went to straight r/o. You can still grow with water that has chloramine in it, but it is not optimal. That's how I look at pH'ing now. The pH down I have isn't organic. I can use it, but the plants are loving it. I feel the pH down is worse than being exact on pH. My R/O is upper 6's so that's is ok with me. With airstone that pH goes mid-upper 7's. That's a little to high for my liking. I'm hoping the wave maker will not effect pH, but time will tell. If it does I'll go from there...Fwiw...I use air stones seed-to-harvest in SIPs with just organic bag soil, only roughly ph my tap water to the ~mid/high 6s before dumping it in (no idea what it ever is after that), and the water looks like like it went through a drinking filter when I finally dump the buckets at harvest (though I have to rip the stone out of the roots that fill the water reservoir)
