HashyApache's Kind Green North

Damn, I'm really bad at this whole grow journal thing. Almost a year has passed since I last posted in here, but I feel like I owe you guys a bit of an update.
I obviously finished my last autoflower breeding run, and the results were bittersweet. While I accomplished my mission of hunting through over 100 plants for a couple of winning phenotypes to breed with, overall the last run was kind of disappointing. Root aphids really hit my plants hard in the middle, to the end of flower, and by the time I was even able to identify the problem both yields, vigor and quality had been drastically effected. Right in the critical time that the flowers began to swell and they put on that final thick coat of frost, the plant's development and maturation slowed to an almost complete halt, and the girls seemed to take forever to finish. While I was able to finally beat them with a mixture of a couple pyrethrins root drenches, enzymes, and predatory nematodes, by the time they were beaten the damage had already been done.
The plants may have certainly suffered, but luckily I was still able to find a handful of keeper phenotypes to play with/ID, and get a few hundred reg seeds from said select phenotypes out of the deal.
Here were a few favorites of mine out of that run... I'll post up some smoke reports or grow reports if there is interest later on.
Blulight (Haze Pheno) [Blueberry headband x Headlights Kush [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG]]
This pheno came out with nonsensical amounts of resin, and outrageous blueberry terps. Dare I say that it smells more blueberry that DJ Short's Blueberry? Flowers were not the largest or densest, but quality more than made up for it.

Blulight (Blueberry Headband dominant pheno)
Love love loved the bud structure on this bad girl. Extremely tight and dense flowers with a very respectable calyx to leaf ratio. This pheno contained just a hair less trichomes than the haze pheno, but was still beautifully crystal coated. Its smell was softer and less outrageous than the other phenotype, but still a delicious mixture of earth and blueberries. If only I could get the best of these two pheno's in one, we'd really be playing with fire! Luckily for me I still have like 200 more beans to sort through, so the possibilities of me finding exactly that are not the worst, and if not I can cross the two phenotypes to produce my F3 generation (even though that would split what ever genetic uniformity I had already worked on....)

Northbound Train [Fantasmo Express x Headlights Kush]
Overall this strain came out pretty uniform in structure and quality, other than some size difference between plants. Plants were relatively short in stature, and were very quick to go into flower. The flowers she produced were quite large and had a decent calyx to leaf ratio. Buds had a tendency to foxtail a bit (as I would expect with it's mostly sativa heritage) but still retained good density. Smell was very enjoyable but overall not incredibly odoriferous. The plants would not smell at all until you brushed up on the plant or gave the flowers a little finger hug, then the musty, dank raw earth smell would tickle your nostrils. Bred with two different phenotypes from this run. Really looking forward to working with them in the upcoming months!

The White Widow x HLK's were hands down my favorite of the bunch. While they did not autoflower like I had initially hoped, they turned out to be some of the most beautiful and fastest finishing photoperiod hybrids that I have ever played with, and the flowers absolutely knocked my socks off.
Most of the plants finished out in a glorious 45-50 days after the flip from 12/12 and yielded generously. These flowers were among some of the most resinous I have ever played with, yielding over 25% on extracts and certainly was not shy in the terpene department. Odors ranged from burnt rubber and cloves, to sweet pastries. Outside, the keeper phenotypes of this strain finished between September 1st and 5th, well before the autumn rains.
This girl is going to be a cornerstone in my catalog for quite some time.

So I hate to bring threads back from the dead, but this adventure is far from done! I have just recently moved to a new state where I am now allowed to legally grow and breed at a much larger scale, and let's just say I'm ready to get the party started!

Over the summer I had yet another grow that ended rather sadly. I had a few packs of limited edition Mephisto reg seeds (Supernatural OG x Chemdogging, Cosmic Queen, and Sour Bubbly x Chemdogging) that I ran in hopes to find a good male pollen donor. I was able to separate the males from females, but unfortunately when I was out of town my grow buddy let them dry out, was only able to collect pollen from the most mature plants, 4 different phenotypes of Supernatural OG x Chemdogging. While I am stoked that I was able to get those 4, I was very bummed to have lost my sour bubbly x chem and CQ...... Just the way she goes boys!

Other than that one setback, things are gearing up for another interesting mephisto grow! Right now I am running a hand full of regular Skystomper x Blulight to test and potentially pollinate, 4 Blue Toof Special Pheno's, 2 Sour Livers x 3 Bears OG, 5 Toof Decay, and 10 Skywalkers (also popped 5 Heisenhound, but none of them grew past sprouts for some reason).
For some reason a majority of the plants switched into flower verrrryyyyyy early, as soon as 10-15 days from sprout in a lot of cases, so it looks like I will be playing with smaller plants than I am used to cultivating, but over all, the canopy is still filling out rather nicely.
Since I moved I am starting fresh with gear. Instead of running hot and expensive HPS lamps, I decided to fully switch to LED's. Running 4 different lights of varying style, manufacturers, and price ranges, from the expensive Black Dog LED, to the very cheap Chinese off brand 300w panels, to some Chinese COB's.
Did not have time to cook up a living organic soil mix this time, so instead I am running a super basic organic mix consisting of Sunshine [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG], Worm Castings, and some basic organic dry ammendments. On top of the soil I am feeding a super basic microbial tea containing Myco chum (a fish/carbohydrate microbe food), Sea Green, some left over voodoo juice my buddy gifted me, an organic Cal-Mag, and a little bit of Mammoth P.
So far, other that the dwarfism everything has gone off without a hitch.

The Blue Toof's are by far the smallest, with 2 of the 4 completely miniaturized, and those two have been very fickle growers and extremely sensitive to Over/under feeding and PH fluctuation. The other 2 are still pretty small, but have a much more desirable Christmas tree style growth pattern. They went into flower quite fast, and are already beginning to stack on the flowers 3 weeks in. So far I am not huge on this strain, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt that it was something I did to them that made them dwarf. If I had to guess it's probably going to be some bomb smoke!

The Toof Decay's are looking great. A few of them also went into flower way faster than I would have liked and are smaller than I wish, but 3 of them are definitely preforming nicely. One phenotype still went into flower very fast, but ended up growing into a very tall sativa looking Christmas tree, and could potentially be the tallest plant in the bunch when all said and done. The other two in the bunch appear to be the same Indica dominant phenotype. These two girls are very short and bushy, exploding with branches, and are just now starting to show sex. Excited to see what they grow into! Been wanting to try the Toof Decay for years now.

The Skywalkers are looking beautiful. They too began to flower between 15-25 days, which is quick, but most of them are still growing into reasonable sized Christmas trees. Some phenotypes are smaller and are already packing on the flowers, but others allowed for a little bit longer of a veg time and are growing reasonably larger. This strain looks to be the yielder of the bunch.

Last but not least the Sour Livers x 3 Bears OG is chugging along nicely. I have two phenotypes, one that went into flower at ~20-25 days from sprout, and another who is still vegging into a beautiful little bush. Really cant wait to see what they do, judging by her lineage I think they are going to be total funk bombs!

I'll get around to posting some pictures in the next couple days!

hey there. Been a while. didn't get to see ya before the storm chasing season Sorry to hear about grow issues.Glad to see your back posting. Wish ya the best of luck and great adventures. Thank you for tips, hints, and suggestions.
Long time no chat man! How are things along the home front these days? Wish I could have ran into you before I left, I would have gifted you a few packs of seeds to play with and hunt through. Thank you for the kind words my friend! Moving away from the place I've called home most of my life was rough, but great opportunity lies ahead. Looking forward to it!

Good to see you, you've made some pretty decent progress and those are some pretty buds:pass:
Thank you bunches Jraven! It's good to be back on the boards. Cant wait to get things cranking over here!

Sorry it has been so long since the last update! Been super busy buying land and getting a farm set up. It will all pay off in the end but as of right now I'm feeling like I am spread a bit thin. Anyways, the garden is looking good! Been taking a minimalist approach to feeding, with just a couple of top dressings of dry organics and a basic microbial tea once a week, but for the most part the ladies seem to be loving it.
To give you an idea of my set up, I have a total of 1000 watts of LED (300 watts of COB's, 700 watts of Blurple LED's) over a 6 foot by 6 foot canopy. In hindsight I think I could have turned that into at least a 7 x 7 canopy if I positioned the lights differently, but hindsight is aaaalllllways 20-20. Running my plants in a pseudo S.O.G. set up with high plant density. I grow using high plant densities like this not for yield, but more so to be able to run a number of different plants of each strain to phenohunt, and explore the different variety in alleles of each strain.

My opinion on the Blue Toof Special pheno is still the same. It is such a strange plant. Maybe it was something I did, but all 5 were total dwarfs. They grew incredibly tight internodes and blasted out little branches everywhere, but they stayed massively short and squat. Some of the plants are going to finish at like 6 inches tall, which is soooooo strange. That being said, the flowers she produces are exquisite. Very dense, rock hard, and frosty. She smells beautiful. Very earthy, floral, and sweet like berries. The smoke should be fire, regardless of size.
Here's one of the dwarf's photographed last week....
IMG_4768.JPG

This one actually grew pretty decent in comparison. Still short and squat, but if they all grew like this they would be perfect in an Auto SOG!
IMG_4770.JPG

Flowers were looking pretty decent on them last week as well...
IMG_4765.JPG

This week, they are starting to really look ripe. Tops are just about ready for harvest, but going to give the lowers about another week to 10 days to ripen up. I'm hoping for a good night time smoke out of her any way. Smells are glorious with this one.
IMG_4821.JPG

Next up we have the Toof Decay's, 5 in total. I did not have the chance to get many pictures of these girls, so I will make up for it in the next day or two with another pic heavy update. Got 3 phenotypes in total of this girl. Two are a very Indica or ruderalis heavy phenotype with very short Christmas tree shaped plants and a long terminal cola. Another phenotype is a tall christmas tree shaped plant with very large flowers, and the other two are huge, fat bushes that took about 2 weeks longer to go into flower. The later two are my favorites thus far for obvious reasons. I'd be happy to be patient for monster yield potential.... Now I just want some of the little plants to finish up so I can make some room and spread their wings to let them fly!
The first two phenotypes are finishing up at the same time (in about 2 weeks or so) and the last pheno will take quite a bit longer, as it is only 2-3 weeks from sex.
Pictured below is the top spear on the taller christmas tree shaped phenotype. Large flowers, and just now starting to get her swell on. Going to be a very interesting couple of weeks ahead for this girl! Cant wait to see what she does.
IMG_4826.JPG

The Skywalkers are looking tiiiiiiiiggghhhhttttt! Two very distinct phenotypes are present. One very short and squat Indica phenotype, which has very large flowers and is getting ripe a bit earlier, and a taller/lanker phenotype that is a bit slower to finish and has smaller, dense "cookies" like buds. All across the board, flowers are dense, frosty, and have great calyx to leaf ratios. Flowers smell incredible..... OG, kerosene, earth, pine, raw meat... Straight up funk. I'm in love with her.
Should begin chopping the earlier phenotypes in the next 7-10 days, and the others I would like to leave at least another 2 weeks to fatten up as much as possible and cake on the resin.
IMG_4803.JPG

My Blulight x Skystomper has thus far totally wowed me. She has a few different distinct phenotypes at play, and while she does not have the most developed flowers of the bunch, a few individuals are definitely standing out as keepers, and doing big things.... Some individuals smell more kushy, but most phenotypes smell juuuuuicy. Blueberry, with lemon pine sol, and a touch of kerosene. Some individuals have a lanky and open structure, but my favorite phenotypes seem to have fatter leaves, and a little bit more indica traits. Plants still have 2 weeks or so left to go, but they are already the greasiest gal's in the room!

IMG_4823.JPG

Starting to feel like this strain is really the best of both worlds, and I am STOKED to see what she can do for me.

***EDIT*** Uhhhhhhhh I'm fucking stoned..... I totally forgot about the Sour Livers x 3 Bears OG....
I only got 2 of the SL x 3BOG to sprout, but both of them are really nice. One is a nice medium sized christmas tree with a long terminal cola, and the other phenotype is much bushier, branchier, and took about 2 weeks longer to switch into flowering. Both are chugging along nicely, and flowers are exploding on both.
I will include pictures of both specimens in the next couple of days.

What a fine mix! Wow, got a farm, congratulations bud. I know you will love it there. Will you be growing outdoors too?
Thank you man! I'm really stoked about it. Just got all of our commercial licensing squared away today actually, so I am going to be able to be a commercial medical grower. Hoping to have seeds in the ground by the Middle of December for our indoor operation, and come spring I will be cultivating 3 24'x72' greenhouses, chock full of autoflowers grown 100% organic. Really excited about the future man!

That just sounds so amazing! Lots of autos will fit in the greenhouses, you gonna be a busy man. Do you have any preferred breeders in mind or just a mix?

That's pretty darn cool you going to be commercial. Best of wishes on the venture, it'll be lots of work but satisfying
