Yes, you can grow plants from regular seeds and make your own. Isolate the male and capture the pollen from it. Use that to pollinate a female. Just pollinating 1 lower branch will give you enough seeds to keep you growing for quite awhile.

Once again thanks, Muddy. In all the books (and web articles) on this subject they constantly talk of gathering pollen. Why? What about identifying 1 male and 1 female (from all the available pix) and put them in a tent on a timer and let them do it. Why the need for midwifery?

:toke:

5 plants were grown to sex, the fastest growing male was paired with the best structured female.they grew together, in the same tent, the male was allowed to drop pollen for 2 weeks. then he was pulled out.
10 weeks later and we have viable seed growing a new crop.

Thanks roadside.

Lets see grow 5. Choose fastest growing male and best female. Put them in their own tent. What happened to the other 3. Almost assumes 3/2 what if you get 4/1 and have no choice.

Why pull the male after 2 weeks. Was he then killed? :toke:

There isn't a need for midwifery persay. It just allows you to get plenty (for most people anyway) of seed on the one branch and the rest you can still get some nice seedless bud from.

When you only have 1 male you have to decide if he seems worthy.
Then after he has shot his load, his usefulness is done. You could keep him alive, but why bother? Isn't that the way most ex-wives feel?

Phenotypes are differences in various plants of the same strain. Maybe one is a bush type with lots of side branches while another is a single cola with few or no side branches. They would be two different, distinct phenos of the same strain. Sounds like what you got. These differences are pretty common with autos as they are still relatively new and haven't been fully stabilized.

Actually, hermies are pretty rare in autos. I've grown several hundred plants at this point and have only had 1 hermie and that was in a batch of seed I was testing for a breeder. One of the things we were testing for was hermies so the fact I did get one wasn't surprising. Yes, you can grow plants from regular seeds and make your own. I already forgot all about hermies, the plague of the 12/12 crowd.
:peace:
Forgot about my idea of isolating a couple of males with a couple of ladies and Im gonna learn to collect pollen
:D
Thanks again Muddy for your very valued advice
