Nutrients Harvest Gold and Bobby's Widow

So here we have the final results of the Bobbys Widow and HG.

To start i will say that it was an honor to test a new product like this, however i will also say that this is the first time that i have had a product that didnt perform like i expected it to or like it was claimed. The gals that were in the HG were smaller and i didnt see the vigor change that i expected. The gals that didnt use the HG were actually bigger and yielded more than the ones that were in the mix.

Below are the shots of the final gals before the chop last night. I will get dry weights soon to reflect the rest of the test.

I am actually kind of shocked at the results on this, i was even heavy handed on the ratio it recommended on the bags. Not to the point that it would impact the grow but was generous in my measurements buy a little more that it called for.

@FullDuplex This is an awesome journal. You pointed out one thing that needs to be addressed in our instructions and that is HGS needs some fertilizing to truly take advantage of its power. It's a soil conditioner at heart, silica is only one of the benefits, the other nine nutrients are also benefits - but when working with HGS you still need to add some NPK. I'm curious to know what you found in your watering schedule. Did the plants with HGS need less watering? Please email us at info@harvestgoldsilica.com so that I can send you a thank you gift. Keep growing! :)

Appreciate the kind words as well as the compliments!

I knew HGS was a soil additive. The plants here were given a rather rigerous feed schedule on top of the hgs. All plants got the following.

Advanced Nutrients pH perfect line
Grow, micro, and bloom

Advanced Nutrients
Big bud
Ancient earth

Green planet
Rezin

Botanicare
Cal/mag

So knowing that this was an additive I made sure that the NPK was there for sure. Feed schedule was as follows

Week 1
AN
G,M,B 2.5 ml/gal
Cal/mag 1.25 ml/gal
Every water

Week 2
G,M,B 5ml/gal
Cal/mag 2.5 ml/gal
Ancient earth 5ml/gal
Every water

Week 3
G,M,B 10ml/gal
Cal/mag 3.75 ml/gal
Big bud 1.25 ml/gal
Rezin 1.25 ml/gal
Every water

Week 4
G,M,B 12.5 ml/gal
Cal/mag 5 ml/gal
Big bud 2.5 ml/gal
Rezin 2.5 ml/gal
Ancient earth 7.25 ml/gal
Every water

Week 5
G,M,B 13.75ml/gal
Cal/mag 5 ml/gal
Big bud 5ml/gal
Rezin 5ml/gal
Ancient earth 10ml/gal
Every water

Week 6
G,M,B 15 ml/gal
Cal/mag 6.25 ml/gal
Big bud 6.25 ml/gal
Rezin 6.25 ml/gal
Ancient earth 10 ml/gal
Every water

Week 7
Water only

Week 8
Water only

Week 9
Harvest

I had both multi pots and single potted plants with HGS. I noticed that the HGS needed watered more often (single and multi pots) than the non HGS plants.

Let the soil dry after harvest so I could inspect the root system. It was no different than the plants without the additive.

Yellow tag denotes HGS product applied itsthe root ball on the right in both pics.

As you can see the one on the right (HGS) is no different than the non HGS on left. Also the main stem is larger as well as thicker surface roots on the one on the left

I also noticed that the HGS root ball had a salty dry substance once they were removed from the grow bags and the ones that did not contain HGS were fine.

FD, is it too late to gather some of that "salty" crud up and see if it really is a salt, i.e., if it redissolves?... or only partially,... or if it's just super fine grit that's accumulated from being washed out by cumulative watering,... I asked a few people to try a test for me on it's ion releasing capacity by putting some in pure water and letting it sit over time, and taking occasinal EC/TDS readings... this of course doesn't replicate what's going on in-pot, maybe microbes play a role is releasing/cycling/transforming,... or the actions caused by nutrient solutions..? A lot of questions about this stuff and it's releasing actions, amounts, etc.,.......
