Hey @Eyes on Fire or @KIS I had a question regarding recycling soil.. I just added the KIS pack to some soil and moistened it.. After reading your directuons, it says it should be good within 48hrs.. Is it better to let it rock longer?? Also, I am gonna tier these next autos, should I just use the potting soil in the small pot and just use the rest the recycled soil??

I won't need it for a week or so and I have other soil that's ready to go, but i've had the KIS pack for a little while and finally had a large enough batch of soil to use it with..

Thanks!!!!

The KIS soil pack says its ready to USE in 48 hours after mixing? that cant be right man. ill have to look on my pack,Ive never seen that before bro. But IMO even if it says that,I would not use it that soon. . .Ever to be honest. its still cooking hot,and high microbial activity and still blending. Ide wait minimum 30 days or until the heavy fish compost smell dissipates largely. but it typically go 45 days or even 60 days until I use it generally. but 30 works alright. but again,. Id not use it that fast. not saying a sprinkle over the top of the stuffs wont work, its just ,thats not how to use this pack. and for tier planting.

any soil is fine it just has to be delicate of fluffy enough and mellow enough for auto seeds, which are more hardy these days generally speaking. so your recycled soil thats been used and not been amended at all. or some seedling mix is what I typically prefer but either will work.

Here you go fellas, a pic I took a while back of the bag when I was mixing...I'm at 30 days composting today and when I dig to the bottom of the tote and flip it to the top to aerate, it's steam city and that fresh tilled garden smell with small traces of that Kis amendment pack when you first open it mmm...I won't use it until 60 or better because this batch is baking.. I take the lid off ( though I do have it slightly open on a corner to breathe ) and the condensation is just beading off onto the floor..

48hrs seemed like a VERY short amount of time, so I was wanting to go for a month or so, but I can DEFINITELY stretch it to 60 days.. I must have almost 2yds of already cooking/cooked soil in totes in my basement so I can use it for next big auto batch I run.. From my estimates from the pots I threw into the bin was roughly 26-30 gals of soil, so I added about a 1/4 of coco, a few large coffee can fulls of my longest cooked soil and 1 large coffee can full of the KIS pack.. That turned out to about 1oz (roughly) per gallon of soil.. Watered it with a little more than 2 gals of melted snow water..

I had also thrown in a bunch of fan leaves and green veggie scraps..

We shall see!!

You guys use it as a top dressing at all??
