Lighting GROWNORTHERN The Manual.

What is wrong with the rollers? I use 5kg each, so total of 10kg per light. The Ms0006 weighs 5kg, so the rollers just about holding 1/2 their maximum load.

If you have had the good sense to buy the best value light on the market, it seems rather churlish to go out and buy a cheap suspension system. Why spoil the ship for a ha'apworth of tar!!!!!!!!
I wouldnt do it, I use one of the ratchet jobs, its peace of mind!!! The ezy rollers can be tricky to manage when raising and lowering heavy lights over plants. Just say you lose balance and try to steady yourself on a light, your 5kg safety margin will be gone in an instant.
My old man always used to say "experience is cheap second-hand"

Dude, sure thing, but if I loose balance and fall over any light, I pretty much think the whole concoction would cave in over me

Really, I do get what you guys are on about... I was just wondering if these rollers where known for going crap over time, break its springs or breaking cables or whatever... But quite frankly I see no wrong in them if you treat them right. I've never seen anyone (to this day) reporting a fallen light due to the rollers... idk... internet mythology or my ignorance on the subject? ... 2 grows and going strong! Or is there really something I should know?

... anyway, back to GN LED lights... I had no idea it took so long to take a site down and upgrade it. I guess something went wrong. Today its still the old one and slow to load. I am very curious to see the upgrade options.

I presume you posted your question on this forum so that you could learn from the mistakes of others....internet mythology or my ignorance on the subject?

Red had an ez roller fail on him, came home to a dangling Blackstar.

Yeah dont buy Ez rollers for your expensive leds guys, there junk and as tang says one of mine failed in me,not good coming home to that LOL

Ouch!! ... I myself almost had a burning hot HID swing into my balls 'cos I missed the hook on the chains. It actually almost dropped it a couple of times, I really don't like the chain method, I'm a bit clumsy... And a short circuit that fried my electrics. Sh!t happens...

I'm fond of these rollers because they're the same system as high end truss roller systems. 99.999% of the time they fail at an industrial level is when people force the spring to loosen, instead os loosening the spring to re-adjust. The absolute worse you can do is tighten the spring tight and yank on the string to lower the lights. They should be set to a point where you could lower the light with the force of your pinky finger (maybe a tad bit more for extra safety, but just a tad!!), and from there they are almost fail safe (disregarding construction failure). Its quite an elegant system. Plus, each of them is rated at 5KG. That is not maximum load at all, its maximum working load (pinky finger loose spring). So in theory, 1 easy roller should be enough for an Ms0006, 2x easy rollers much safer of course.

No standing my ground, just sharing! I had a couple of mates do this, they just couldn't accept such a "light" operation from the rollers so they screwed the spring tight and pulled on them. In such a case, yes, the spring-break surely will eventually give in.

Maybe Red can come in a share his experience!! Yo REEED !! Where you at?

EDIT: He already did!! Lol
EDIT2: (your experience dwarfs me... I think I'll set up a safety line for the lights just in case, a chain that hold the lights in case of failure)

The ratchet ones are £5 ( pounds sterling ) more expensive than the EZy rollers and can take 34kg, almost 7 times as much as the Ezyroller. and are as simple to use.

Yeah piece of piss. I use them they are very good, but I would use metal chain, solid. And like 99p a metre.

I have had to take mine off and hang it direct from the frame because those Autopounders keep on growing approaching 30"now and still just over 4 weeks old, but once these are out of the way I will put them back on the ratchets
