Well, I am starting this log for my grow. It will be perpetual, so I will likely use this thread to document multiple grows from here out. It is a work in progress, but I have decided to get the ball rolling now, and as I get my equipment together I will post everything on here. Right now, I have the basics I need to start. Once I get the remainder of my stuff in the mail, I will be ready to finish. I just received my autos in the mail today :jump: (Chaze, Mi5, Cobra) as well as the traditional UFO's from the 'tude. (Blue Widow, Blue Hash, Afghan Haze #33 all from Dinafem)

This is my setup, in a series of sentence fragments.

-13 Pure Afghan (reg) from DNA in paper towels. It has been 24 hours and theyre starting to crack. Looks like about 10 have already done so. These are going much slower than the last few strains I have done, so it could be a variable here or there, or perhaps its this strain. I have had white tips at 24 hours a couple times before, now there are no tips... only swollen cracking seeds:jump:

-I have 2 48" t8/t12 floro's in a 2x4x5 grow tent. (Gromedic brand, really like the tent)

-Once I get these seeds to pop, I will be putting them in my DIY aeroponic cloner im not using (due to the Auto run im doing.)

-I also have some root riot plugs I may use due to the success I have had with them in the past.

-The rest of my setup which I will use later on is a 4x8x6 grow tent with 1000w hid's, smartpots, promix, GH and AN nutes.

Plan is this...

Veg out my 13 Afghans for fem/male selections later on...
Run all my autos in the same tent, by the time space is an issue, I will have my second light which will be a T5 most likely. This will allow me to run all of these plants in the same space. Once I get the Afghans to the right size, I will sex them by switching to 12/12 until they show, then going back to veg.

The problem I see from the beginning is space. The other problem is having to go back to 12/12. I am hoping to add another tent for my photo's because right now theres just not enough tent and not enough light. For now it will be ok and hopefully a near-catastrophe will motivate me to get the correct equipment.

Soo after all this rambling, I still havent uploaded any pics but will do so around the time I put these beans in the aero unit.

And for the record, Attitude seed bank is #1 :2cents:

thx

Pure Afghani eh? I'll have to sign up for this one, and I'm a huge fan of the attitude but I'm gona try the store on here next time to see what it's like. Looking forward to the grow.

8 out of 13 have white tips. Put them in root riot plugs. Nothing exciting yet, but an update nonetheless. Received my smartpots in the mail, just waiting on my ProMix tomorrow. Hoping I will have sprouts by then.

Also, Chaze is going in the paper towels tomorrow! Tap water / RO water 50/50 mix -PH6.0- This is my most successful method. The tap water would be better IME, but the RO cleans it up a little without using pure RO... (Pure RO has given me troubles, i think the chlorine really does help.. especially with slow starters)

Ok, another picture-less update...:cuss:

out of 13 pure afghans, i have 4 sprouts to show for it. Thankfully these were free. They have purple stems, and bright green leaves. First set of leaves is forming now, hopefully in a day i will see the spearheads.

The afghan seems like a perfect start for breeding, and I will surely be taking a male to the Chaze... as well as an Mi5 male to the chaze. I am very much new to breeding, so this should be fun.

Be careful with that chaze dude, they are MASSIVE and it will end up blocking the light to your other plants !!

I have 3 in a 4x7x7' cupboard and I can't move in there dude !!

Yeah I may only do one chaze at a time, along with the Mi5's and Cobra's which should be a little easier to fit. It should be a beautiful mess in there. :)

Ok, on to the Auto's. I put some Mi5 in a tupperware/paper towel combo. Few drops of H2O2 + tap water.

-Put them in 12/12/11 around 2pm. Got home from work around 10pm and realized the heat on the mat was over 100 degrees. I have tyhe thermostat for it but for whatever reason, it had jumped 10 degrees (It was set on 90). I found that the sensor had slipped away from the bottom of the tupperware, and had fallen off to the floor. This allowed the mat to get so high.

Now, I freaked out as usual, at the thought of murdering 10 Mi5's, until I looked at saw two actually popping open. I am hoping they are germinating correctly, and not popping like popcorn!!!:hot:

So, that being said... I cant find anywhere on the internet saying anything about 102 degrees being GOOD for germination, but have found various threads and pdf's from random googles that have stated how hot water affects the o2 levels in the water. So could h2o2 allow for higher temps? Hopefully, in my case at least, high temp + peroxide = acceptable germination conditions.

I have used h2o2 in the past, putting the same setup near a heat vent... but i used no temp control, and just felt it with my hand... this time, I have a mat with a thermostat that I can dial in, but failed to secure the sensor, allowing excessive temps (102-ish deg. F)

so... 102 degrees for about 8 hours and im seeing white tips, swollen seeds, couple cracking open. I know mold and whatnot will be nonexistent so soon, and because of the h2o2. So either they are

A: cooking (which seems unlikely since 102 isnt that hot, just outside of desirable conditions.)

or

B: They are supercharged from so much oxygen.

---I have lowered the temp back down to 90, where I wanted it, so hopefully everything will progress nicely.

Cross your fingers for it being OPTION B!

thanks for reading,

lesson learned. 102 degrees is not good for seeds.

thats 10 mi5's down the drain due to negligence.

next up, cobra and chaze... and a new order for the attitude for more Mi5...:cuss:

that being said... the pure afghans are looking good.

update...

3x DNA Genetics 'Pure Afghan' ( 2 weeks from seed, seemingly 2 phenos so far)
2x DNA Genetics 'Kandy Kush x Skunk' (One heavily Trainwreck pheno, one heavily Kush pheno; both about a year old)
1x Royal Queen 'Shining Silver Haze' (also about a year old, very branchy, very hazy, very lemony)

The Mi5s I had... I killed by overheating. 102 degrees did not treat them well. Now I will use duct tape to hold the thermostat in place for my heating mat.
The DNA and Royal Queen mothers are my old strains I had on backup, so I will be popping the Cobra/Chaze seeds this week, trying to get some autos going in my veg tent.

So far so good aside from the Mi5 mess.

update...

put 3x cobras in coffee filters, PH 6.6, h2o2, 83-85 deg. F

also I put my Mi5's that failed last time... back in filters as well... i put them in the fridge for a few days, and i wanna see if i can resurrect them... this is an experiment with little to no expectations.

As soon as these go through, I will be doing the Chaze, and the remainder of my photo's.

My photo's are Kandy Kush x Skunk from DNA, as well as some Dinafem Blue Hash, Afghan Haze 33, and Blue Widow.

-----------
Pure Afghans are looking good, and my mothers are really starting to regrow very nicely after being cloned to bare bones.

Pictures will be up soon, as I just got my camera back.
