How's the smell from your plant so far? Mine hasn't been too bad at all.

It's not bad at all. Sometimes it creeps around the garage, but it is mild. I will be building out my ventilation and filtering system over the next day or so, so hopefully it won't be an issue anyway. At the moment, I have an odor bucket that I built. I put some pine-sol water in it and refresh it every other day, and no worries! Here's a pic of the bucket I made.

Got the fan and filter all fitted up, and built a DIY muffler for it. The muffler is simple and works great. Just a piece of carpet rolled up and duct taped to seal it up. It all seems to be in working order. It is nearly silent with the muffler on it.

great job so far greenjeans! since you're doing a dwc, i'd probably grab a 35% hydrogen peroxide(food grade) to keep on standby, if not for regular usage. your plants will benefit from the extra oxygen molecule and it helps with algae etc. just be careful about the measurements per gallon of water and to avoid certain ones that have stabilizing agents. lights wise, i didn't get a chance to read through your whole grow/setup but if you ever wanted to move up from cfls and keep it quiet/low cost; you could always consider some t5/t8 tube lighting. could even grab a few namebrand cree LED t8s and stick em in for a cost efficient build. good luck for the rest of your grow mate!

I'm with bakedpotato on the H2O2. I just had a battle with algae in my DWC system and have started adding it every 3 days. It's nipped the algae and the plants are taking off. I was not able to find 35% H2O2 locally but did find Nutrilife's 29% H2O2 at a local grow shop for a good price. "Munch..munch..munch
