Yes it can be harsh on the plant for sure only had to use it a few times. I've always been able to control herbies by removing them only a few but with a mass amount the sprays keep them in check. Some friends also control with plain water spray with success.

Yeah, same here. I’ve always chopped the boy bits off and carried on, usually only ended up with a few seeds in the bud. Apart from one plant years ago that went totally to seed. That went on the fire!
