Indeed tgat is what I should have done and will do in the future.

So the fruit I had harvested had really thin stem walls. Anyone have any thoughts? I also noticed a thin strip of dark brown running down them. Too much misting? Like too moist?

So speaking of outdoor cultivation, here's a wood lover's twist.

Here in the PNW we have wood loving psilocybes. Instead of growing in dung they grow on liginous dune grass and on wood chips. One of the most potent in the world grows on the coast around the mouth of the Columbia river, Psilocybe azurescens. I went out to pick some this year and found the largest patch out there that weekend.

Now how does this relate to growing? Turns out these guys are some of the easiest to grow, no sterilization needed. When you pick them just remove the stem butts that still have some mycelium on the ends and throw them in a moist cardboard egg carton. Any cardboard will do, I'm just a fan of the way the cartons hold them. Once they start to spread just boil some woodchips and throw them on top of the mycelium. Once that colonizes put it outside in a woodchip bed or in a planter with some potting soil and woodchips.

OH MY GOD you are NOT lying, the azurences are the BEST mushies I have ever eaten every in lifes history. My buddy brought a bunch back from Oregon or Washington I cant remember, I would only give folks 1 g per 100lbs they weighed and no one ever wanted any more than that. I haven't thought about those in years lol good times
 
So.... whats going on in here?
