looking good bro!...how do you like the pro-mix BX??...have you had any ph swings in your run off with the BX??...i'm using the HP...been having some wild ph swings in the run off!..mite be changing to something else next grow...that reminds me...when did FFOF change their freakin receipe...the last bag i got was totally diff. from the one i had before...i don't know....guess it's time to do some more reading!!...:D...:smokebuds:
I don't know what ffof changed or when but i got the same deal with the last 2 bags i bought compared to what i had last year. The ph in both bags of my ffof was low 5's this time around where as the old stuff i had was mid 6's.What a pain in the ass!

Same here. My current mix is 1/3 FFOF, 1/3 FFHF, and 1/3 perlite. I added 1 tbsp dolomite lime per gallon of soil as I've done in the past with FF soil, but my readings are still down in the 5s. I think I will topdress each pot with a little more dolomite before the next watering to help keep things stable. I hate to think that I'm going to be chasing pH for the next two months. I think after this grow I'm switching to Promix as the FF stuff is too unreliable & usually has fungus gnats in it.

Sorry for the threadjack, L3V3R! Just now getting on board with your new grow. :howdy:

I stopped using FF product's a couple of years ago from their inconsistency. I got a bag of FFOF about 5 months ago hoping that they stepped their game up I mixed it 50/50 with promix BX and it still wasn't right I had to add amendments to get it to my standards. I will not support a product that does not produce said products with the quality and control to make their product consistently good just not 1 out of 5 bag's. If fox farms products were on par you wouldn't have to add any amendments it would be sow and grow. Sorry for the rant but FF has pissed me off royally by selling their high priced crap just my :2cents:

@ MrNiceSmoke I never have had any problems with my promix's pH I wonder if it has something to do with your water or something like that. what is the pH and PPM of you water?

the water i'm feeding them with is ph'ed to 5.9 after ferts...know idea what the PPM is...i have an ecoTester...doesn't check the EC or PPM...just ph...guess i need to quit being cheap and get me a real meter...:D

I forgot, was the runoff running high or low? If low, get some hydrated lime. If high maybe pH adjust your water, add nutes and make final pH adjustment if needed. I rememeber you said your starting pH on your water was 8.4. If you wanna read a great PDF about pH, click, on the link in my sig for reference links and go to the thread that's titled pH info or something along those lines.

hey thanks Jackal!!...that's what i'm going to do...get me some
hydrated lime...i wish i wouldn't of thown away the pro-mix bag...i can't remember what all was in it now...:D
EDIT;it was low...5.5...

Hey MNS if you get hydrated lime be careful with it I read it can kill roots on contact if not mixed in properly, you can get dolomite lime and it will raise pH also without the fear of killing the root's. I use dolomite I've never used hydrated lime so I can't speak from experience I'm just going off a article in skunk magazine by the rev.

i was just reading something about that...on the hydrated lime...it suggested dolomite lime too!..do they sale this at Lowes or do i get it from my DroShop

Yeah you gotta be very careful with that stuff. Dolomite lime will work, just not as fast.

check at the dro store they should have it, maybe lowes but I get mine from the livestock feed store i get a 50# bag for like 13 bucks I've had it for a little over a year now :D
