New Grower Getting started on my first indoor grow!

easy ryder vs MI5 awsome

Nice work, Roller. +Rep for the time spent on the grow log. Putting as many details as possible in your thread is very helpful to noobs and for yourself when you look back on your grow. In the early stages things seem to move so slow, but then everything starts moving faster and it's really easy to forget exactly what you did and when you did it. Good vibes sent for the germination! :peace:

+sub

Will be really nice to follow a detail grow log. Nice start and hope you can give us some nice bud shots later :) I know Shiva the god of cannabis will give you a great yield in 2 months.

Thanks for the kind words and germ karma guys!

Nice setup! Man I thought I'd been doing a decent job detailing my exploits. I've gotten pretty lazy of late. Wish I'd had this to read for research. Clean and tight, I think is key to getting nice plants.

Hey guys, all 6 of my ER's were showing taproots within 48 hrs and were planted on 9/23. This morning I peeked in my tent to see all 6 of my ladies have popped above ground!:booya: Will do an official update with pics soon

I'm sub'd brother nice setup you got there I will be watching intently :peace:

DAY 1

It's been pretty smooth sailing so far guys.

I am keeping the Blackstar about 12 inches from the top of them untill they get thier 3rd set of true leaves. Temps are running 77-81 degrees fahrenheit and relative humidity is about 55%. I added kangaroots to the soil at full strength (2tsp/gal). Should I add in a little molasses on the next watering to feed some of the mycorrhizae?

Day 4 Update

Well I did something really dumb lol. I let my 3 gal smart pots sit in plastic drainage trays, I was doing this so I could check the pH of the run-off. I realized I had a problem on my hands when I noticed that 48 hours after the initial "watering in" of my soil, it was still holding water, and I mean alot of water, like I just watered it in. I stuck my finger down about a half inch and felt very muddy soil, almost like standing water. I then removed the drip trays and realized they were not allowing the pots to drain. The water was just going into the tray, and then getting reabsorbed into the bottom of the pot. I felt like I needed to help drain the water from the pots since they were completely saturated for a little over 2 days.

What I did to fix this problem: I removed the pots and drip trays from the tent. I then spread out 3 dry towels in the bottom of the tent and put the pots back in directly on top of the towels. I figured the towels would act like a sponge and drawl water out of the pot. Within an hour all 3 towels were completely soaked. I repeated the same process with three new towels. This time it took about 4 hours before these three were completely saturated. I replaced the wet towels with three dry ones once again and went to sleep. When I woke up (about 7 hrs later). The last set of towels was damp, but not as soaked as the first two sets and the pots were way lighter. I estimate that i removed atleast 6 gallons of water from the soil in under 12 hours this way lol.

Then I had to think of a way for this not to happen again. I took an idea from Mellow Yellow's grow log and decided to put an elevated floor in using a wire rack. I picked up these little shelf racks at wal-mart for about $5.

They fit perfect in the tent, 5 sec install lol.

I am happy to say though that my little plants do not seem to be affected by the excess water so far, I think I drained it in time :help:. The soil is still moist, but regular moist now, not muddy. Here are some pics of my babes from earlier this morning.
