Using wpt method for germ. Do usually plant the seed as soon as the root peaks through or let come out a little? Root tip down? I'm dropping them 3gallons of OF soil, do u soak the whole pot, let it all drip out loose water then drop the seed?
Hey there. Paper towel method is tried and true and used by many. You don't want the root tip to come out too far before planting as there is a greater chance of damaging it while planting. Just a bit coming out is fine and yes root tip down. There are some growers that plant tip up and claim that it is better, but most everyone goes with classic down as that is where the tap root is headed, down. Especially, auto's they like to shoot their tap root straight down as far as it can go right off the bat.
OF is generally too hot for seedlings. I would not start your seeds in the Ocean Forest. You should get some Light Warrior or some other seedling mix with no nutes. Auto's don't like or need nutes for the first 2-3 weeks and everyone hear will tell you this pretty much.
It is ok to start right in 3 gallons just not that soil. A lot of growers start in party cups or some type of smaller container with seedling mix until they sex around 3 weeks then tier transplant them into bigger pots by removing the bottom of the cup or having done so already in the first place, and then planting it cup and all about half way down into the bigger pot. Auto's do not like transplants but the tier is barely a transplant. Otherwise, starting in the final spot, such as your 3 gal would be great just get a different soil or you can also scoop out the middle section of the 3 gal with the OF in it and put in Light Warrior or other seedling mix in that place. By the time the roots reach out to the outer OF it will be old enough to handle the nutes and be ok.
Also, it is a good idea to fully water your pot 2-4 days before planting your germinated seed in. that way it is saturated but not soaked as that can damage your seedling being too wet. Hope this helped out and good luck.
I wouldn't suggest that but I am no expert. Most of the advice I see is to at least cut it in half and then add perlite as well. Perlite should always be in any mix. I have also seen some grows that started in OF but almost every single one ended up with nute burn problems. I still suggest cutting it more with a seedling mix or doing the other ideas I gave.

Yes this is a good method. Starting in smaller cups is easier to me because they are easier to handle when they're small and as they grow you tier them into bigger pots and let em roll out.
