I've heard of people germinating their seeds in the same pot that the plant will live in it's entire life. Say a 2 or 3 gallon pot. This seems like an easier method for a first time grower. Is this a good method?

Hi Robwars

I am as green as they come, that said, I read everything.

For my 1st grow (LowRyder AK47) I started the seed overnight in an opaque glass of (RO) water until the seed sank and I could see the seed had split (no more than 24 hours) and germinated directly into a 3-Gal pot using a mix of 70% FFOF / 30% FFLW. Right in the middle I hollowed out a small hole filled it with 100% FFLW and placed the seed, less than three days it popped.

Here is how it was explained to me... Autoflowers are on a strict timetable and anything that could stunt their growth like damaging roots during a transplant could be an unrecoverable mistake. To avoid this kind of mishap it was suggested that autoflowers be germinated in their final pot from the start, so far this method worked for me, and I would be interested on what other experienced growers thought.

I plan to use this method once again in my next grow this time using an AirPot.

Good luck on your grow - RF :peace:

Soak your seeds as Rabbit described and then plant them 1/2" deep in your pots. Cover them with loose soil and keep them warm and moist, not overly wet. They will usually pop up within 2-3 days. I grow with regular seeds, so start in smaller pots until they are sexed, then transplant to their final pots. But if you're not experienced with transplanting there is always the possibility of putting them into transplant shock and stunting them. When growing feminized seeds, straight to the final pot is the way to go.

Thanks Rabbit (Good to see a Marc Bolan fan....)

I've read so much material in the last couple of months.... It can be a bit overwhelming at times. This method seems to be legit. How did your first grow turn out? Have you finished?
My seeds should arrive next week so I'm looking forward to getting started.

Anybody else want to chime in on this method????

Should I start the light cycle as soon as the seeds are in the pots?

Not really necessary till they pop unless you need the heat from the light to help keep the soil warm.

Marc & T-Rex will never get old. :head:

Since it's my first grow I don't have much to go on but here is a photo of day 38.
