I believe I will be spending some time here. Seems like an awesome place for canna discussion. I am going to be dabbeling in breeding here soon and can’t wait. Watching @tobe and @FullDuplex @NastyN8t creating and playing and growing got me wanting to do some of my own. I have a question for @StickMan i have one cbd yeti autofem from autoportal are these f1 and not locked down to high cbd low thc? I read u have pollen in the freezer would u mind sharing how u collect and freeze. I would like to try and freeze so I don’t always have to have males growing.

Hi I can tell you something to the CBD Yeti autofem. In the F1 generation we offer you will find three different phenotypes.
Pheno 1 high cbd low thc
Pheno 2 high thc low CBD
Pheno 3 a 1:1 ratio of thc and CBD

The collecting and storing of pollen is also easy. I use a paper put it under the male flowers tap on the steam and collect the pollen. I let them sit for 24 hours and then I put the pollen in a ziplock with some rize in the freezer.

Everyone got there own method, @StickMan will explain his method later I think.

Thanks I haven’t tried yet but I’ve read some growers having no luck with frozen pollen. Figured I’d ask some folks with some experience make my learning curve slightly faster. Running heavy now for a supply so I can make a small seed/cross run. Then back to supply then another seed/cross run. Growing autofems for the past 4-5 maybe 6 lol I’m bad with years they go so fast has gotten not boring cause I love growing anything but redundant the Breeders make it too easy with their top genetics. I think growing some regs and making some seeds and some crosses will make me a better grower and keep me interested and having fun.

Most of the time I use 1 gallon containers, but do use some 1/2 gallon also, but will start using more. I do a lot of micro seed making in 18 oz solo cups. Amazing how many seeds one can get from such small containers.

When you say youre using 18oz solo is that for their entire life, or do you then transplant them? So I guess it's not true, size doesn't count lol.

Yes, this is the same method that I have used for years, with the exception of container used to store in. I use old 35 mm film canisters. I know some breeders use single serving type containers like many seeds come in. That way there is no freeze thaw cycle when using. I have used pollen stored in the freezer for up to one year.

When you say youre using 18oz solo is that for their entire life, or do you then transplant them? So I guess it's not true, size doesn't count lol.

Yes, you did read correctly that I do indeed keep them in 18oz solo cups for their entire life.

Not unusual to harvest 100s of seeds from one plant in a small grow area from an 18 oz cup.

That sounds like what Im looking to do. I just want to make some seeds from strains that are gone now. Like I have 2 sour bubblin crack I am saving to reproduce someday. Only need what I can grow so not looking to make 1000 seeds. If I made 20-30 would be perfect. Nice to know do t need to waste a bunch of soil.

I'm using 3.5" pots, I can pack 27 of the in a standard tray. I've collected 750 seeds from one, 8" plant before!

That sounds like what Im looking to do. I just want to make some seeds from strains that are gone now. Like I have 2 sour bubblin crack I am saving to reproduce someday. I have never done a seed run, yet. But I will take as many I get, not sure what to expect lol. But I grow only 2 at a time for now so 30, if I only grew that strain would last awhile. Dont want to make to many and have them get old. I would try them if a had a lot, maybe use some a fishing bait too lol. I would rather get the fish high than eat him hahahah. But I do love the fight!

You can always do selective pollination on one or two lower branches. That way you don't end up with too many unneeded seeds and have the rest of the plant as sensi.

Be careful though, making your own seeds is VERY addictive! I have never been able to grow without making seeds.
