GC's HLG grow show

On second thought, I started this thread thinking I'll share my grows in their entirety.. good or bad to make myself a better Grower. However, the string of luck, or lack thereof since my restart has sure been humiliating.. :)

So plans are still the same, let the res run down, while awaiting a miracle to happen.. but I'll be culling this tent. The yield just won't justify the time and effort. No reflection on the @Jean-O beans he graciously sent my way. I feel I let him down on this one however..

I appreciate the effort and time @Mizzo81 put in to help me transition to the Growpito.. still not sure what my issue is, other than ph. The initial buffering or swings in the res that I wasn't on top of. Iv learned a few things and will apply in the next attempt.

Anyway, here's the 3x3. All are small plants and probably 1oz yields said and done. Just not worth the effort. I'll revisit this in the future but iv got kick ass photo strains that I'll be moving onto.

For comparison sake let's look at the two moms I have in Growpito.. and bottom feeding.

Chem 91..

And my Cap Junky..

Much better yes..

Today I'm topping the Chem 91 above, and taking cuts off the mom the above came from. While nothing is flowering in my room, I'll be attempting STS again on her. I'd hate to lose the cut before I got a pocket full of beans.

Hopefully the 91 clones root quicker than they had been and give me 4 for the 3x3.

The cap junky will be cloned and flowered in the 4x4 next run.

Only thing we do different is I use RO water. I’ve messed up plants but once they get on the res they recoup and go on healthy. My res ph doesn’t drift and I think it’s because of the RO. When u restart the 3x3 I would just give a rinse with low ppm and 5.5 ph. Water each one till 20% run off and they should be good for the next batch. I only ran autos once in the growpito and autopots. I did start them in I think they’re 3x3 pots for 10-12 days then into final pot. Water in and wait 3 days if they’re a little small water again wait a couple days then they should be big enough for the res to be on. Also my VPD IS usually well within parameters per each stage of growth which I know is important. In my opinion VPD and PH are the most important thing. Obviously that’s going for someone who already has good equipment and genetics. I hope things straighten out for u. I find the growpito to be a lot like promix hp but with better air holding abilities. No cec issues like with coco. The moms look perfect.

Thanks Mizzo.. i really appreciate you taking the time with my dumb ass.

Today i will be draining the reservoir for the 4x4.. it's a tad below 1/3 full and now that the ph has been stable for a few days at 5.8-6.0. Fresh res will be filled at 5.7-5.8 and monitored closely for upswing. I was not prepared to expect the upswings as high as 6.4 etc in 48 hours.. i'll be watching very carefully twice a day if i have to. And make corrections.

I also want to get small pumps to drop in reservoirs, not air.. just for mixing/circulation. That to me seems to keep ph swing to a slower scale.. it seems to me that helps. Maybe circulate twice a day for 30 minutes or so.

See what happens in that tent..

Meantime i'll pull the 3x3 and clean the equipment again.

On the moms.. Iv started bottom feeding, few times now. They look great however I have to water often. I was expecting the growpito to hold water volume to keep feeding a smaller plant longer…

Then it dawned on me. In saucers the 2 gallon containers drain holes come up pretty much to the saucers limits. The drain holes weren’t fully submerged… following?

So the vacuum, or capillary action of the medium was being interrupted by the lack of water volume… kinda like pulling a hose partially out during a siphon.

I’m correct in my assumptions how this works? Makes sense to me but I’m no physicist…

Also, iirc the growpito really can’t be overwateted? So no real danger if I leave pots in saucers to get a good soak?.. they did get pretty dry.

Things are looking better. I turned off the reservoir for 4x4, let the containers get light, then flushed them with solution at 5.8. Three days later i turned the res back on. The plants have started growing again and have better color. I am monitoring the res daily and keeping it at 5.7 to 5.9. I ran 6 gallon through it this week and it looks good. I have the tote full ready to fill reservoir today. If things continue to look good i may be flipping in a week or two.. god i hope so.

In the 3x3.. well i hated to cull the auto run but it didnt make sense to continue. So, i am now using the space for a seed run. I mixed my sts, sprayed the pollen donor plant (Chem91) then hit again 5 days later and flipped to 12/12. This plant will dust another Chem91 and a cap junky. Hopefully this all goes well.

This has been a struggle for me, things just were not clicking like i had expected. But i'll figure it out and get better eventually.

Pics coming..

Ok, in the 3x3 is the G-Unit by Tony Green

Also the GG4 s1..

And here is the seed run. Chem91 skva to left, Cap Junky at right rear. Front right is the 91 getting treated. Wish me luck..

Clones this last desperate round are doing much better, was checking this am and was surprised to see 4 rooting.. on day 14. This being the most vigorous. Stretching mom out gave me softer less woody stems for this round, I had hoped it would work out.

Thanks again @Mizzo81
