Lighting G8 LED 80 watt RED Flower Booster

The price tag is cuz it's a g8 light. All g8 lignts have high price tags.

That doesn't really justify the price tag. I can get a full UV kit for that. They don't list the brand of diodes either so how can I even be sure if I'm getting top bin?

Reds are incredibly efficient and don't take this much to add the extra red price wise. As @low_and_slow showed, the cobs, even in a 3500k have more than enough red for flower. UV and far red initiation would give more benefits. You'll have to be careful of stretching, a ton of red doesn't equal more weight.

Check out their other lights, still selling blurples. Claiming over 60 inches of penetration on their grow lights. They even claim all of their lights were awarded by high times. Tacky and deceitful advertising practices.

It's to compliment 4 auto cobs in the center for some added red. The autocobs have no red.

They do indeed have plenty of extra red. Have you seen the spectrum chart for your specific lights?

A far red booster might do you more good? I was going to mention chill/rapid led booster pucks. Quite inexpensive.

Check out the far red buddies 730nm:

Or a t5 UV light.... I know there are tons of companies pushing UV right now but the research says UVB is the spectrum you want. Most are advertising UVA only. Mix of both looks to be the ticket.

Oh well I already bought it and am using it with my cobs. There are red leds in my other lights but the cobs have no visible red. I know theres some red or they wouldnt be flowering weed. Lol I just wanted to try some extra added red after the stretch is over of course. To see if buds get bigger and more trichomes like the light claims.

GrowlightAustralia maintains that you only need UVA. They did their own testing that showed equal or greater terpenes in the UVA spectrum compared to UVB. The addition of UVB+UVA was negligible. UVA helps with calcium uptake, hardening off, and some other stuff. Solarcure UVB tubes are inexpensive but UVB can be dangerous

I can't find the newer one I read but I'm sure everyone's seen the 1987 paper:

I think one of the newer biochem papers has a uva/b comparison and with hemp v thc cannabis. Ugh Ill have to find it. I've still got access to a couple research sources but its a pain to find stuff. They basically said preliminary testing was a blend with higher B was more trichome production. Nothing on thc potency or % gains. I'll have to find it. It was super interesting.

oh boy, this is totally not how light works, lol. Better do some research before you flush more of your money...

The interesting thing about "claims" in advertising material is you can actually validate or invalidate that ahead of time by doing research. That's the beauty of the scientific method, you don't have to drop cash to run a personal experiment, you can reference work done in controlled experimental environments by recognized research institutes.
