So I have a few autos growing right now, just brokje the soil. I plan on doing an outdoor grow however I am very confused on how I should start these guys out. Right now I have the growing indoors and moving them around each window of my house so they get the full sun. about 12 hours of direct sunlight a day. 18 hours of light a day (i live in alaska) should I continue to do what I am doing or put them under a few cfls? for the first 2 weeks of growing? thanks

The sun's light is waaay better than any other artificial light source, because of many many aspects, like being free, having full spectrum and other reasons.

That said I think you are doing a labour of love, moving the plants around according to the sun position :) I do it sometimes, but are you prepared to keep doing that all during the plants life cycle? CFL's even though not nearly as great are way more convenient.

If they look healthy and not stretchy use the sun,If they start stretching go with the cfl's.

hell ya if you dont mind moving them about then use the sun! cant beat the real thing.be sure to turn them a little bit every time you move em so they get the light from a different angle.
@ Hugo + rep for labor of love

if its warm enough use the sun it puts some thing stupid down like 10000 lumens per sq ft then top up the light with 8 hours of cfl in the evening

Pretty much what i am doing atm.
Windowsill during the day, an hours darkness between 5 and 6pm and then on until 6am the following morning.
One concern is infesting your cab with outside pests(if you actually move them outdoors)
But overall,if no stretching occurs,i can see no reason why not

Well, I can think of a few reasons why not, like growing in 30L pots, but even so, sometimes I move mine around.

You just can't beat the sun :)
