Live Stoner Chat Found this mushroom. . .

better safe that sorry... toss it. Ive grow Pc b+ before and that doesnt even look close...

Good to know, my cubensis skills are not that great. My first thought was perhaps some old rice cake substrate got mixed in with my soil. Thanks

Well you said the burlap bag once held rice, Rice is a great substrate for ANY/ MOST mushrooms to grow on. They dont need much either... rice dust or flour.... Id just pull it and move on

Its got the 'nipple' on the top like a liberty cap

I get those all the time. It is the fruiting body of your soil mychoryza

Not to be a nit picker, but I always am with mushroom identification. There is no nipple on that cap, it rounds off at the top. The cap has a soft almost shaggy texture and completely lacks a pellicle, one of the identifying features of P. Semilanceata.

If you really want a solid ID on that mushroom then head over to shroomery.org and set up an account on their forums. Go to the mushroom hunting section and post up an id request using the template they put up in the sticky section. I do this for mushroom hunting and they have definitely saved me from poisoning myself, and helped me out when I was just plain curious. Wait for an id from someone with a trusted identifier badge. They look similar to our mod badges.

:peace: Good Luck ~Piggy

It is a coprinus spp. The genus includes shaggy manes (coprinus comatus), inky caps (c. atramentarius) and many others. Coprinus miaceus is one of my favorite edibles. The genus is often referred to as inky caps due to the auto digestion, melting at the margins of the cap. It is how they release spores.
` Edibility is unknown for many spp. in this genus, but the three mentioned are edible. It is important to note that adverse reactions are known with members of this genus if consumed before drinking alcohol. A drug derived from this genus named coprinin is used to treat alcoholism.
