New Grower first time grower need some help

im getting a 2x2x2 tent what size lights and how many should i get i was thinking 1 1000 hps or 2 600 hps , any 1 got any ideas ,ps oh and what else would i need such as a fan and other stuff il be growing in soil too so any ideas ???

I didn't know they made a tent that small.You will never fit a 1000 watt or 2 600 watt hps in a tent that size.You could cook a pot roast in there with those lights.Even with cfl's they would get to hot for that size tent.That tent is way to small fo fit lights,fans and plants in.If I were you I would go with a bigger tent or you will have to many heat problems and space problems to grow properly.

Hello mate,

When you say..2x2x2 are we talking metric or imperial..... coz 2 metres are alot different than 2 foot.
Best thing you can do is have a good read up and come back with plenty of details...all the info you need is in easy reach within these threads and the members are more than helpfull with new boys like us...:smokebuds:

OK,thats much better,thats about 6feet by 6feetby6feet in the USA. I would go with two 600 watt hps.Your best bet is to use an enclosed light and connect the two light together with flex ducting with a intake fan on one end and an exhaust fan on the other end. You should also have a fan that circulates air around the plants.

I agree, two 600 watters would be best for that space. Generally a minimum of 50 watts per square foot is recommended for HPS lighting. Your tent is about 21.5 square foot, so 1,100 watts minimum. One 1,000 watter wouldn't be quite enough. As already mentioned, heat will be an issue. Get vented hoods or cool tube reflectors and duct them as NamVet said. You will also need a good carbon filter to control the smell, as well as a timer to control the lights.
