Ok, so i plan on doing a 3'W 3'L 4'H (or maybe even just 3x3x3). Ive heard of people doing up to 9 plants in a grow like that but i plan on using cfl's so im not sure if i want to stick with a lower number or not. I'm thinking about doing an array of different kelvin spectrum CFL's. My little idea; use a power strip (or two) wired with x amount of 2 way light adaptors and extensions to plug them directly into outlets(wire tied to secure them for sure). So say theres 6 jacks on the strip, 12 lights total. I plan on making some hoods for the lights out of metal ducting (did some youtubing on making reflectors). Not sure how many plants that would be able to hold over.. For soil, the guy at the grow store swears by this stuff that you dont need to add nutes to and is 100% organic. He said to plant them in these >> http://www.hydrogalaxy.com/pots-containers/dirt-bag-10-gallon/?gclid=CPqr7cWbvbwCFY17fgodaGQA4w

For seeds i've got these picked out >>

For my box im going to be using using either wood or pvc to construct it lined with mylar on the inside. Basic intake and outake fans with the outake having a carbon filter.

Sound like a stable plan? any advice would be greatly appreciated!

either a lt of cfl's or these >> http://www.1000bulbs.com/product/91...BaseShopping&gclid=CPbl3eedvbwCFQVafgodLXUAjA

But in different spectrums. The guy at the grow store said no go on those but the fucker wants my wallet. so maybe 3 of them, 2 2700k and 1 5000k +

Hey man cleaned up the thread and deleted the duplicate posts.

Have a link for the soil? Would like to make sure you're getting the best information as hydro stores are meant to sell. In my experience a lot of the workers are pretty uneducated (no offense to anyone!!) and they will tell you what they think helps sell the product and what they've been told by some one else or the company, etc etc.

http://www.roguehydro.com/superoots-air-pots/ - If you can afford them, use these pots instead.. better than the fabric ones in my experience.

Why CFLs? Why the Grow Shop? Why not order an LED? What's your budget? What're your expectations for the grow?

CFL's because they're cheap haha. A good LED would run me half a grand and wouldnt even provide proper coverage for a 3x3x3 :/ Im concerned about heat and electricity problems which is another reason. My budget is several hundred, and the grow shop down the street has everything youll see on hydrofarm at the same prices. My expectations are 3 to 9 plants and i want a q/p every crop out. If you know some decent priced LED's that are good for a grow my size please let me know! My plan so far is as follows 3x3x4(one extra foot of height to hang lighting) all wood, with mylar on the inside. small intake fan on the front bottom, out take fan on top with a carbon filter. 2 5000k CFL grow lights in the middle of the tent surounded by 12 to 24 2700k CFL bulbs. Hopefully my setup will meet my expectations. That soil though... not sure... huge white bag, all organic and you just need to water it.

if the guy at the store said it already has nutes in it you dont want it for autos,it will most likely be too hot for them, you would be better buying a seedling/starter soil or a lightmix soil of somekind.

Hey and Welcome!
Sounds like you have some definite ideas and a plan for your grow.
I am using a mixture of CFL and LED, I have an inexpensive blackstar clone and a dozen CFLs I am growing 3 plants under this in a 40in x 40in x 60in tent. I would hesitate to grow more with my setup. Had lots or room when they were small but pushing it now they are fully mature. Something to consider. Try not to set your expectation of yields too high. You will get some very good stuff for sure but don't stress about how much!!
Peace and happy growing!
:karma Cloud:

Thats true too! and goes to show he had his head up his ass b/c i specifically asked him "hey do you think that soil would do good with autos?" So, something light.. would i be using just that seedling/ starter soil on its own throughout? The reason i was going to go with the soil at the store is b/c ive never dealt with giving nutes to plants. My first and last grow was with a friend that took care of all that stuff.

no if you got the seedling/starter soil you would need to start feeding them around the 2-3 week mark, you could get through it with some grow nutes, flowering nutes and maybe a flowering booster of some sort, you can pick those up pretty cheap just depends what brand you go for. but that soil from the store will most likely either burn the hell out of them and/or stunt them and either one is a bummer as it will reduce your final yield

@wwwillie Could you provide a link for your LED? and also i was snooping through your journal and i love your CFL light that you've got rigged up there, I was gona use a power strip and a bunch of adaptors to get the same result but wasnt sure if it posed a hazard to safety. Yours however seems well built and i might do the same.

Thanks a shit ton larky.derry, you just saved me a headache in the future. haha.

If someone could point me in the direction of a good seedbank that ships to the united states id be ecstatic. The one ive been poking around on http://original-ssc.com and im noticing they have different strains with reviews that say the same things. Call me a paranoid stoner but i dont like that... Like the site put up the reviews themselves or something.
