New Grower First Real Grow -- Sour Crack

I wasn't going to post a grow thread but I figured it'd be a nice resource for me to look back on, keep track of dates, etc. And if I find some help along the way that's awesome too.

Now, onto the grow. This Mephisto Sour Crack seed just started poking out of my soil here. I germinated it in moist toilet paper and planted it about 1/2" deep two days ago.

No filter, just the light coming from my LED.

Light: Roleadro 300w LED 3500k ~130w actual
Medium: Biobizz Light Mix in a 3 gal plastic pot
Nutrients: Biobizz Fish Mix, Biobizz Bloom, GH CaMg+
Area: 21"x30" Closet, 74 degrees

From what I've researched those nutrients should be enough for the duration of the grow, but I'll add things when the plant looks like it needs it.

For watering, I'm probably gonna use some mix of spring water/ro water, unfortunately my tap contains chloramines.

I want to buy a second light for use during flowering but don't know which, or if I even will yet. Right now this light is 30" above the pot. If anyone has any advice on this or anything else let me know! Ill update this periodically and as I remember to keep track of everything I do.

Welcome to AFN my friend. You have done the right thing setting up a diary. Plenty of top notch advice here from friendly, knowledgeable people. And your growing a Mephisto bean so plenty of diaries for you to look up. Plenty Mephisto Heads here!

I think the light is adequate for that one plant. I was looking at purchasing that model or the 3000k from ygrow but I had yet to see anyone grow with them. I'll be watching to see how this light does.

Thank you to everyone who has commented. This site is definitely a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate the warm welcome. I think I will stick with this light for now, I recently started learning about COBs and I'm super eager to build a set up now but I'll wait til the next run.


Since I will be growing with mostly RO water, how early should I introduce cal mag? I was thinking after the first week due to the light mix and RO water, but should I just wait until I notice a deficiency? I also wanted to introduce some fish mix at around a week, at maybe 1/4 or 1/2 recommended dose to introduce a little bacteria and stuff to the soil. Do these sound like bad ideas?

This is the best forum for auto growers around. Whenever else is years behind still arguing of topping and super cropping can be done to autos. I'm on several other forums but I don't get love anywhere but here.
