New Grower First post low yield question

Ah well gues I will be returning the 50litre bag of all mix I just got lol makes sense not stressing thum out with nutes in the biggining. I have been doing 18/6 of light

Pick up some perlite when you get the soil ... Fox Farms Happy Frog works OK too ... you want the most mild soil you can find and you want it loose so that, when wet, it falls apart if you try to make a mud ball w/ it ... I only reduce light hours to reduce heat or if a plant looks bedraggled ( or for security ) ... good auto seeds can take a variety of time schedules even during the same grow ...
:d5:

Some autos will do well in All mix ... some won't ... anything w/ nutes in it is generally a no-no w/ autos ... causes stunting ... nothing is written in stone but you want the odds in your favor ... I start in the pot because the moment the tap root emerges I want it to be in soil, not waiting to be in soil ... soaking the seed for a day is OK but I've only done it a few times ... my watering circle starts 2" way from seedling because the roots grow from the stem ... may find you prefer to do 3-4 wet spots instead of a circle ... train the roots down then out ... a happy seedling in loose soil will have roots to the bottom of a 3 gal pot in about 4 days .... then train them to head to the outside of the pot ... keep the spot where the seed is planted moist until it is about 3 days old ... my friend loves to tell me that my techniques aren't necessary to grow a good plant ... he's right but I prefer the odds be in my favor ... my friend uses well water and lives near to the Dolomite Lime quarry ... I consider his water magic and I'd love to have it to grow with ... lights on 24/7 start to finish or 20/4 if you can ...

I have used all mix several times with happy endings so maybe give it a try. Lightwise I'd give them 24/0, fully auto. Chester has dropped jewels in this thread, some great advice to follow.

Accordingly to the "master" Jorge Cervantes (speaking about regular photoperiod strains, but i guess its a good base for autos as well) the pot volume should be 1 gallon per month that the plant is suposed to live, also, squared shaped pots are desireable.

I am suspect to pronounce about pots volume, cause I enjoy recycling reservoirs... and I don't care much about big harvests (yet).

In my humble opinion, 2L icecream reservoirs are just enough to grow a Lowryder#1, for example.

It saddens my heart that nobody cares about the original Lowryder anymore... I am so looking forward to acquiring this classic again!

:-/

Easy to grow... squat, Mild on cannabinoids, mild on odour specially when grown organically and has super stable genetics!

Damn... so perfect!

I understand "selfing" technique but I find the intersexing genes utterly undesireable and nowadays breeders release only female strains.

I sort of admire the Joint Doctors more than these other seedbanks.

I kinda don't understand why someone would buy female seeda and become a slave of seedbanks.

Atleast my currency is so weak... that any pack of seeds, being it paid with pounds, euros or dollars are just nonsensely expensive.

Thats also sad...

Makes me study strains lot more before I ever consider purchasing them.

This auto white widow actually instigates me.

I grew some regular photoperiod seeds that I got from the "cheap" brickweed sold in Brazil and apreciated a lot!
That made me curious about how is the white widow strain, specially the automatic.

Over here theres no "cannabis indica" around, only regular oldschool sativas...

I even have some F1 seeds stored from a good random photoperiod sativa x dieselryder (indica pheno). I just lack the proper space to keep automating this lineage.

:-/ probably only a short amount of individuals might "auto" (if any).

Buddy, forgive me for butting in, but from my little experience... 24/0 is only advisable during the seedling stage, or if youre too broken to purchase a timer (which is my actual circunstance).

I had a micro grow in a computer case... and I did the light schedule like that.

I've learnt that they can deal with light like that but the thing is that their roots grow when the lights are off. And it is good for the plant cause it gives her the oportunity to "rest".

Considering this, I personally wouldnt put my girls under a light schedule higher than 20/04. Which gives you the chance to turn off the lights from mid day till 4pm... which are the higher temperatures.

I would advise you giving 18 hours of light and use the other 6 hours to cool the grow area.

For its not desireable that the temperatures get higher than 30 degrees (Celsius).

Needless to say, I didn't know that in the past... So I believed that the 24/0 would pull the maximum from my plants, but all I did was to waste energy, create heat... so I had to water more, increasing humidity.

Creating the perfect environment for funghi.

And... stressing the plants.

So... What I want to say is that "less is more".

If your temperatures are "cool" and you want to test it anyway... disconsider what I said.
In other hand... I am looking forward to see your experiment.

I'll be sending you positive energy from over here!

:-)))

I've run 18/6 and 20/4, I initially went from them to 24/0 as it kept heat up for me when it was 0C outside my tent. I've stuck with it. Personally I would advise anyone growing autoflowers to go with 24/0, roots needing dark rest is old wives, autos just don't that rest. Perhaps give it another try on a different grow?

What I forgot to mention is that if you are not using an airpot be sure to provide good drainage in the bottom of your pot ... roots like Oxygen and they have a tough time getting it when the soil is too wet ... I'm gonna start another thread to get some opinions on what others advise for drainage cause I'm about to plant a seed in a plastic pot and I do not have my usual drainage material ... If you are using an airpot be sure to use the end w/o holes for the top side ... makes it a lot easier to water ...

Didn't get notifications on my thread there sorry for the late reply. I personally am sticking too 18/6 light the now becuase of the roots needing darkness plus keeps my light off during the day for cooler temps and incase the chopper is flying around. Regards too the next grow with all the advice off you guys I think am going too try a pot with all mox amd one with light mix and perlite see if theres any diffrence in yield, growth ect. My guts telling me its been the light being too close with the last grow and maybe starting the bloom nutes too early was lead too believe you had too use bio bloom nutes together, maybe only a gap of a week between starting the bio grow them bloom and harvesting acording too the seed lbanks time frame.
Only time will tell if I have sorted out the problem when I start this next grow still enjoying the experience and knew I would encounter some problems along the way
