Just looked again there at my bloody skunk.. day 24.. 8.5 inches.. day 33.. 25 inches.. so 16.5 inches of upward growth in 9 days.. she's ended up over 40 inches tall
Keep it up man. I am in my first grow at the moment and they seemed slow and stunted and then right around 3 weeks they showed sex and started getting a little bigger and stretched then boom! In week 4-5 she nearly tripled in size. Looking good!
I guess I'm basically concerned about what is going to yield the most. I could do that experiment that you mentioned since I have two lights... Or I can just let them run their courses

Well with leds an even canopy is very important. There are many ways to skin a cat for sure. My thoughts are.. thicker branches and main stalk = better flow of energy to budsites. Think of water flowing through pipes. The longer skinner branches provide a longer narrower pathway of energy as well as being not as strong or capable of supporting a large cola and therefore will need support. This is just how i view things. If i were you I'd experiment a bit. And you can figure out in the long run whats best for you. I dont usually top or fim my plants (photo period or not) a few days ago i bent down my main stalk on my autos so the side branches are now even with the main cola. The main stalk has sort of an S shape and all the branches are reaching for light. More of a bush then a christmas tree.
Ive got 3 gallon and 5 gallon that i use. And a few 7s that i dont ever use really. With photperiods i start in a 1 gallon smart pot and develop a nice root ball the plant lets me know when to transplant into the 3 or 5 gallon pot. My autos i believe are in 3 gallon pots
Smart pots. Poke a small hole in the fabric above soil level. Fish some hemp string through it and tie onto the branch you want. Dont tie tight to the branch you wanna leave enough of a loop that the branch can grow without restriction. I tie my knots so i can adjust them later if i want to bring my main branch lower to even the canopy. And sometimes will pull side branches whichever direction i feel necessary to spread out more. The more even you can get your canopy the better .
