Hey everyone, glad to meet you. I've got many years in greenhouse and nursery work, but I gritted my teeth and held off growing the good stuff until it was legalized here. Since I didn't have a heart attack and hell did not, in fact, freeze over when it was legalized, I set up and started the research. Back in the 70s I had one or two seeds and grew a photo as a bonsai.

Side story: I fell out with my folks and left home for a few months. Neither of them would speak to me. However, when I finally came back my father who had been raging upset with me forever somehow thought he would 'make up' with me by showing me how well he'd cared for my houseplant while I was gone. He came striding out of the house smiling holding my 'bonsai' looking green and gorgeous, and I was so stunned I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Week of April 7
Five Amnesia Auto Fem from Canuk Seeds, and a free White Widow.
Planted one week after my tomatoes and peppers under basic LEDs in seed starter media in basic seed starting trays.

Sativa dominant with stated final height at 47 inches so I expect a bit larger plant, don't know if this is true, feel free to chime in if you are familiar with this strain.
.
They were up in four days on a grower's heat mat, temp constant at 76 degrees.
The free Widow seed did nothing but rot.

Side note: If you don't have a seed starter heat mat, get one, they are cheap and last forever and are more than worth it. I've used this one for fifteen years for every vegetable garden and for starting rose and rarer flower seeds. The constant low bottom heat works wonders, especially if you are starting them in a cooler ambient temp room. I wouldn't live without one.

Transplanted to four inch terra cotta pots using Bumper Crop as media at around second week.
Transplanted again week five into 2 gallon basic grow pots, Bumper Crop media. Two days later I topped them to five sets of branches. No ill effects whatsoever. .
Roots were fully spread through the four inch pots by that time, simple transfer.
After they settled in I've watered once a week with Neptune's Harvest veg, and will switch over to Neptune's Rose and Bloom formula soon.
They are currently under a single LED full spectrum, $19.95 Home Depot.

Week 6-ish
All around 12"

On my first grow as well...i'm curious as to why yours are so tall and thin? My white widows are little bushes currently at around 4 weeks?

I would guess it is because you are using 2 Kingled 1000w LED lights and he is using a single $19.95 Home Depot full spectrum LED

I am very interested to see what this Home depot LED will produce, nice side story too :pass:

Yes I'm using a very cheap new LED. My peppers and tomatoes are showing bud, indoors, now, because it's still too damn cold to plant them outside here. If a pepper and tomato, both tropical annuals, can produce under these lights, so can weed. Yes I know, there are a zillion alternatives and a billion pages on spectrum, etc. I also realize they may stretch a bit, but then I have the space. Since autos are rather pre-determined I don't imagine they will grow beyond their genetic limits. Let's see how this goes and next grow I'll buy a bit wider light. This light puts out 4000k. (Cost to run per year as stated on the box is $1.39. lol) I've put so many plants into flower and fruit indoors under cheap lights - let's call this an experiment. lol

Well I was impressed with how healthy they looked under a $20 light to start with but now you say it only uses $1.39 worth of electricity a year, I'm pretty speechless to be honest and even more eager to see the final result. Keep up the good work Al.

Updated shot after a splash of Max Sea for added minerals. Temps lower in house today as our spring still isn't springing and I've still got to keep a fire in the woodstove at night. Doesn't seem to be bothering them with temps in the very low 70s. Only tiny issue I had is that the light was too low and the leaves were telling me they wanted a little respite so I moved it up to 20" above the tops.

I'm thinking the difference is that Widow is a shorter variety by nature. Someone correct me but Amnesia 'tends' to the sativa growth habit and Widow the Indica?

Gave them a diluted shot of Dr. Earth's fruit tree fert today. It is composed of fish meal and fish bone meal, soft rock phosphate, kelp, seaweed and earthworm castings. It is in a prebiotic microbial base of molasses, brown rice flour, inulin, humic acid, aloe vera and yucca extract. NPK is 5-4-2. It promotes microbial hydration and adds soluble sugars. I should only have to water every three days. We'll see how they like it.
Best part is I got a lot of seaweed and kelp based organic ferts from working at the greenhouse for years. Anything with a messed up label came home with me (not shelf-pretty).

Week 8 ish. Filling out nicely, they stopped stretching and started putting out side branches. Since the final size without topping is stated to be 47 inches and I topped them, I'm hoping this is the end of the major portion of the stretch. With the long Amnesia branches, the light penetration is just fine. Looks like the nutes I added are giving them a boost, too. I will probably only feed again once they start blooming and then only with Neptune's Rose and Bloom. With such a short growing duration I know this organic soil won't be used up by any means.
