Hello all!

After having read the guide I found from Santacabra here (thanks BTW) I thought I would post and share.

I'm planning on updating this post every so often (hope that's OK here, I'm new )

Seeds placed in Soil 12/28 late in day/early eve

Seeds sprouted through soil on 12/31 AM and I removed plastic, trying to keep warm.. it's cold outside (brr)

The plants all sprouted in less than 3 days, and I then removed plastic. Soil is already a bit dry, it's a mix of about 4 Parts Happy Frog soil and 2.5 Parts Perlite (washed). I had placed some tap water in bucket, let stand for a couple days and used about 1/4 strength Great White Myco (local place didn't have Voodoo in less than the huge mombo jombo size)

Strains are from Herbie's and are Auto's

2x Heavyweight ( 80/20 Indica Sativa)
1x Sour Diesel
1x Northern Lights
1x Candy Kush

Crazy names these days... what do I know?

A little about my set up:

4x4x8 Tent - Millard
4" Duct and Fan, with Controller and Charcoal Filter (not yet installed)
150 W HPS - Hydrofarm light
100x3 LED - Apollo ? <-- I think the LED idea and energy savings attracted me, but I'm having second thoughts?
Scoop light and CFL for some added Watts/Heat - It's been cold in my part of California right now.
Little fan to move some air around and a little Digital Temp / RH monitor
As of today 1/2, I've noticed that that the Cotyledon (?) of a plant or two is curled differently than others, normal or ??

Here's a few pics! I'll update every so often, and thanks for any help!

A Video too

Hey welcome to AFN, i heard lots of good things about a mix with HPS and LED.
About the Cotyledon, its all normal they look different everytime.
I´ll follow your grow :P

Thanks for the look! Reading a bit around here (your grow thread as well). So many really helpful folks here, awesome!

welcome to afn. the LED is a good move along with the hps. the hps will put off some heat so work with you ventilation to keep your temp's in check. also, if you don't have a ph meter, get one. and don't buy a cheap one.also you'll need calibration fluid for the meter.and 1 more important tip, when you feed nute's, go 1/4 strength of what the manufacturer recommends. it's real easy to over feed. happy growing.looking good so far

I plan on using HPS and LEDs on my next grow of AutoUltimates and I have also seen people have great results, IMO it's because you are getting the best of both worlds high lumen output with the HPS and full spectrum control with the LED. I am going to be following this one for sure to see how it progresses. Good luck!

Thanks to all for the looks, very friendly and informative forum here!

Admittedly... the LED / HPS combo was purely an accident. A local shop rec'd supplementing the LED with HPS for "keeping warm during winter and *various reasons*" of which I didn't understand, but maybe the various reasons were as you all are pointing out.

OK, a little update. Day four since sprouting. Looks like a second set of leaves may be trying to come through.

Of note: I noticed that the plants seem to be bending towards the near center of the LED (near center). I went ahead a rotated the plant bases to see if they started to re-direct towards light, of which they did.

Question Would seem that less this early in the game (four days since sprout), I can't imagine a 100x3 LED needs to be closer to the plants? My first thought was about 4 feet, but had a little closer as it's been cold at night, any input or thoughts?? Used MH in past (20 years ago ) and hadn't seen this side angle bending pattern before... probably no biggie.

Ok, a few pics

Video may be working as well http://youtu.be/24KIP-p1ZG0
