Indoor Fast&Vast + Vertigo Projected Harvest 1st Wk Nov.

Well, folks, I am forced between buying weed, and buying supplies and seeds for my future experiments with autos, and I am choosing to purchase the seeds and supplies rather than buy weed from an outside source any longer.

Unfortunately, I have to smoke, and so I am going to be pulling some of my plants earlier than I wanted to cover my medicinal needs.

First will be the midget vertigo, pictured below, likely this Sunday at 53 days (a week or two early, I know, I feel terrible, but not that terrible!)

Next week (week 8/day 59) I'll either pull the other Vertigo, or the mutant F&V, and whichever of those two I dont pull at week 8, I'll pull at week 9. I gotta smoke, that's what the plants are for.

Hi Gabe. Thanks for checking out my Dragon.
Your Vertigo is nice and frosty already.
So the incandescent is IR? The theory has merit. I'm not well read on infrared but my MarsHydro 144 x 3w has an IR
LED in each of the 3 panels and I'll guess they weren't added on just a whim.

Why not just snip and quick dry a popcorn bud as you need it instead of the whole plant,

"The last week is when the magic happens" (Chester 2015)
"The potency of an early cut increases in proportion to the dwindling size of the stash to reach maximum regret level at the last toke of the last bud " (Feenix Just now)

I was going to slap some rep on ya, then figured,,,Nah.

Just kidding, Until the rep system comes back on line you got a rain check.

Yes, just a regular Incandescent light bulb. According to a number of sources, they are highly inefficient, and about 90+% of teh energy they emit is in the form of infrared (invisible) light - that's why they get so hot! I do want to upgrade to a\n infrared bulb, which are cheap enough, but the cheapo is aactually good enough... You have yo use the uncoated ones, though, for best results https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incandescent_light_bulb

Upon doing more research, I have found that a lot of LED lights are incorporating IR as well as UVB into their designs. It's all based off of work by a scientist named Emersonin the 50's, who discovered that a brief exposure to IR light can cause a plant to convert its PFR into PR - what would usually take up to 2 hours can be accomplished in l/t 15 minutes, effectively allowing teh plant to enter into 'night mode' two hours faster, and extending the night period (or allowing the night to be shortened, in the case of photoperiod strains)

An explanation of far red light, and how to use the light to mimic 'sundown' http://www.420magazine.com/forums/g...ffect-photosynthetic-artificial-darkness.html

Of PFR to PR conversion: http://www.rollitup.org/t/a-theory-...-reduce-dark-time-of-flowering-plants.394709/

There's more, but if you are interested in checking it out, this should be enough to get you started. In theory, it should result in faster, and plumper buds!:stir:

Some interesting stuff that is highly neglected. I think, at least as far as my own experience, that it is neglected because we see that the clock has less influence on autoflowering than the calendar. Many just run 24/0 7 days a week so dark is not a factor while, to save electric, some, me included, run 20/4. There are also many who run 20/4 and even less "on" time, just to give the plants a rest.

Oh, boy - I'm not opening the 'what's the best light cycle' can of worms - BUT, since I also use a dark period, both to keep power costs down (not that it makes that much difference) and also to keep the heat down during the middle of the day, I want to make sure I get the most out of my dark time!

I'm also adding a couple of 26 watt UVB bulbs to my setup - the kind people use for their pet lizards, you know? I understand that the plants react positively to a increase in UVB during their light cycle, producing more resin (which acts as a sort of 'sunscreen'), and in theory, producing more THC. Any thoughts on that?

I used a 15w for some runs. I'll save some typing and send you here:

Marsh Hydros newer 5w led reflector series has both by design, Not sure if the reds in my 3w are the same exact wavelengths.

So, if im reading correctly, UVB is really only helpful in the last 2 weeks or so? Or did I miss something?

Actually, the consensus was that its beneficial from day one. My chosen scope was to follow a certain video that impressed me so it was from first flower.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!

I am expecting these plants to be done the first week of November, and what do you know, I got an email from a familiar face:

So, I'm expecting to be able to start my next project (breeding the "Swamp Ape") right on time! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skunk_ape
