I am getting ready to invest in a fan/carbon filter/speed controller. I will only have about $200 to spend on it.

I am seeing three options in my price range, and I would like your input!

Ventech 6" and filter

Growbright 6" and filter

iPower 6" and filter

Which one works and lasts? Any of them?

Any other suggestions in my price range?

I am also interested in used options, if anyone has a line on anything..

The filter has lasted you 3 years?

I have the same filter but I really don't worry about smell where I live but I;m sure it has used up it's effectiveness.

I've run two 6" LEDWholesalers scrubbers (for some reason I thought they were iPower, but most likely very similar in price point/quality,) for about 3 years now as well. They worked fantastic under continual heavy use for the 1st year. The 2nd year, noticed diminishing odor scrubbing qualities and now on year three, they are pretty much metal paper weights in the tent

The longevity and effectiveness of the carbon depends on the type of carbon used, the size of the carbon, size of the odor causing molecules (in relation to the type and size of the carbon,) the other contaminants in the air, length of time of adsorption, time in use, humidity, quality and upkeep of the pre-filter, normal maintenance on the scrubber itself (tapping the side every now and then to re-settle the carbon and expose different or more surface areas, etc.)

Wouldn't recommend buying a used carbon scrubber.

You can replace the carbon inside the scrubbers; but that requires bulk carbon of the correct type which can be expensive depending on the source.

I know my LEDwholesaler scrubbers are made out of aluminum, so if you're feeling thrifty you can dump the carbon and probably recycle it for scrap too!

LOL! Yeah, I wouldn't buy a used filter. I meant the other stuff.

I have located a ventech fan and speed controller for $75, and am looking at filter options for $120 and under..

I found a phresh (damaged box), but the cfm rating is 400 vs the fan's 440. The next size up is more than I can spend.

I am seeing Phat filters in my price range, but don't see many recent reviews on them.

I use a hurricane in line fan and phresh filter. 171 cfm fan, 200 cfm filter. My grow tent is 4'×2'×5'. The fan and filter work great. No smell until I open the tent.

I use a ventech 4" with a IF4 and a Ideal air speed controller and it works great for my 4X4 tent nice and quiet and no smell.

So the consensus seems to be that the ventech stuff is pretty decent, then? The filters are fine?
