Ok I'v read many threads on this, with so many different views.

Look I have a tent 4'x4'x6'5" with a 600 Hid cool tube.
ATM I'm soooo hit on funds but I need to control heat and Oder.
I have 4 big bang auto going and going to add in a few think different auto, I also have a pure kush photo going and its only 16 days along and holy hell that is a dead skunk already:cry::cry: Cant belive at 16 days how bad my whole room out side my tent smells and when thoes Big bangs at day 22 kick in, well enough said.

The question will a 4' inline fan filter really do the trick to keep temps from the hid and move enough air thru a filter and control oder.

Tent=112sqft yes rounded up....3/minutes(think better than 5??)=38cmf
Heat = .40%
filter = .20%
air abstruction = .20
so min fan = 69cmf

Would this be about right for fan???

To answer your question, I very much so doubt it. With a 600 in that tent you really want a 6" inline fan. If there's one area where you absolutely don't want to take shortcuts or skimp it's ventilation, and now you know to have it ready as some strains get stinky quick! Just make sure you match up the cfm of your fan to your filter or it won't work, or not for long.

here's a cheap fan that works

Matching filter. The 6 x 16 , 400 cfm is the one.

Depends somewhat on what your incoming temps are. If you're drawing in air that's already air conditioned you might be able to get away with a 4" fan, but the 6" will certainly do the job and what I'd probably use. Here's another source, a bit cheaper.

I've been using the 4" versions of these for over 2 years now with no issues.

Right on and what kind of speed control would a person want with that??? Iv checked on ebay and such but seems like all them really aren't rated for the fans.

It helps a lot, I was looking at that model just nice when you hear from some one that has actually used one :D

Oh I know what you mean. I am not sure what Muddy uses for his speed controllers, but I know Andy Botwin uses this one too and he is a reputable member here as well.

A speed control is pretty much a must for centrifigal fans as they do put out a LOT of air without one...I use a 'speedster' on each of my fans..intake and exhaust ....4" carbon filter and cool tube in a 3x3 tent....mine are 4" fans rated at 200cfm which is by far enough in cooler temps...runs on full blast during summer though...
My carbon filter is almost 2 years old and still works fine although I'm sure it's getting close to its life expectancy....
