Hi, I want to buy some fabric pots. I would like to buy the geo pots but they are so expensive, so I was considering buying some cheaper ones from ebay.

Has anyone had any experience with cheap fabric pots? I have had alot of people tell me that the roots end up just growing out the side of them :S

I also have no idea about the material they use, the geopots say its 600gsm fleece and the cheap fabric pots say 300d non woven materials.

thanks, i really hope someone can help me out!

I have used Smart pots for quite a few years and still like them. I've seen similar fabric products on Amazon. Do some research, see how they measure up with Smart pots.

I tried those fabric pots they sell at gardening centers for pond plants once.

personally I found it a litlle inconvenient, harder to lift/move as plastic pots and didn't really notice the plants doing better. but the fabric pot I had wasn't that big(around 10 litres I guess), so eventually for the final potsize I had to repot into plastic anyways.

The roots are supposed to grow thru the sides... as the root sees light, it prunes itself. Think of topping under the soil. In buckets, the roots hit the side and then spin. I've seen photos actually strangle themselves, both were mothers overy a year old. Airpot, fabric pots help combat this... nit enough experience with autos to give an opinion on how they work for this application.
