I saw a side by side in another forum of a DE CMH vs a cob array. Cobs yielded higher but I think the CHM flowers looked better. CMH CRI is 90+, closer to sunlight where as LEDs are a CRI of 80, but it generates more heat plus the cost is higher depending on how much space you need to light.
Personally, I have ran almost everything..hps/mh, high end blurples, cfl, T5's and cmh, everything except DE's and the new 301b leds, which apparently have comparable CRI to CMH.
CRI on a blue is 90-95, on a red 95- 98. CMH is by far my favorite lamp to date and they run cooler than my leds with much better penetration.
With auto's and CMH, I'd only run 18 or 20hrs on..24/0 tends to make airy flowers and can cause light stress.
Leds seem to produce smaller denser nugs with slighly better terps and trich production.
I run 2 315 cmh in the one room and they blow away my 2 420 true watt Leds.
Next time I expand I'm considering running DE's on a lightrail.
Other thing about Leds is that they are constantly evolving and what you spend today..you might regret tomorrow...trust me.
Thats my opinion..only downside is CMH bulb replacement cost. Other than that I'd say CMH all day..you can't go wrong.

How often should you replace cmh?
Thats a matter of preference..but definely yearly.... I usually swap mine around every 8 months...but thats me.

Annually ish. In one run ill start with a 4k for 6 weeks and finish with a 3 k for 6 weeks. I replace both annually whether theyre working or not and i keep a new pair on standby because fail safes.
Ive run 4k all the way thru and 3k all the way.
4k gives denser anf more resinous nugs. 3k gives bigger buds and stretchier plants overall. But with less terps and triches.
At around a 20 to 30% varience in yield, its up to you and what your goals are. I plan to do a run with 4k for 6 weeks the 5 weeks of 3k and switch back for the last week just to see what happens.
Let me know how that turns out. Curious, what height do you guys prefer hanging your lights?
