COVID And Cannabinoids
The majority of people who suffer severe coronavirus symptoms develop a condition called Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). As we reported in an earlier blog post, this is caused by the immune system going into overdrive and releasing a glut of inflammatory compounds called cytokines, resulting in a “cytokine storm” in the lungs.
Since the start of the pandemic, researchers have already discovered that THC treatment prevents this cytokine storm from occurring in mice with ARDS, leading to a 100 percent survival rate. On top of that, a new study was published last month indicating that CBD also downregulates the production of cytokines in the lungs of mice that had been infected with a virus that mimics the effects of COVID[ii].
While this is obviously excellent news, researchers had until now been unable to explain how these cannabinoids inhibit the release of cytokines in the presence of ARDS. Fortunately, the key now appears to have been found, with apelin being the magic ingredient.

What Is Apelin?
Apelin is produced in the lungs, heart, brain, fat tissue and blood, and is released in response to extreme changes in inflammation or blood pressure. For instance, when a lung infection occurs, apelin levels tend to go up in the surrounding cells in order to make sure that no cytokine storm occurs and everything continues to work as it should. In this way, it prevents ARDS from developing, or at the very least initiates a speedy recovery from ARDS.
In the new study, researchers infected mice with a COVID-like virus before measuring apelin levels in their lungs. Ordinarily, apelin concentrations would be expected to soar in response to such an infection, yet the study authors noted that the opposite occurred, as levels of the peptide plummeted to virtually zero.
This would seem to suggest that coronavirus somehow inhibits the production of apelin in the lungs, which would explain why it is so deadly.
However, after treating infected mice with CBD, apelin levels were restored. As a consequence, ARDS symptoms in these mice were reduced, while a closer examination revealed that the immune response of these rodents had been normalised along with oxygen flow and tissue damage in the lungs. In contrast, mice that had not received the cannabinoid saw no improvement in their condition.
All in all, these results suggest that CBD’s ability to stem the release of cytokines and reduce inflammation in the lungs is mediated by apelin, which for some reason is inhibited by coronavirus but restored following treatment with the cannabinoid.
Research is now ongoing to discover how this can be applied to humans suffering from COVID-19 and other ARDS-related conditions.

and this one from @Mossy nice info

Interesting read on hemp and Covid.

My main reason for this post is wondering what changes, if any, New Holland made to the cutter/conditioner shown in the vid. I would imagine the conditioner rollers are probably the same as other models. I can't see hemp needing more or less conditioning than various hay crops. I've grown Costal Bermuda, vetch and alfalfa. "Conditioning rollers" break the stems of the plant for a quicker dry before baling to prevent mold and get the material to a safe moisture level before storage. Most of us know about molds, but improperly conditioned and baled hay crop can auto combust if stored at high moisture levels.

Since we ALL should be concerned with soil conservation, the farmers growing for fiber and seed oil better have non-cash crop grows planned for rebuilding the soil and hopefully a non-monocultural grow. With the fiber/seed oil hemp farming, you are mining almost ALL of your nutrients, only roots and tiny stubble contribute back. Since the cash crop is a monoculture, the cover/soil building crop should be multicultural. A multicultural crop is best for the farming area environment at all levels and fully utilizing what;s available in the soil. Insect populations form more natural ratios VS high pest populations can occur in a mono-culture. The exact same goes for the microbial populations in the soil.

I really wish I had found my love for ag in high school! While I LOVED what I did in the military, it just can't compare to my fascination with growing plants and raising animals organically.
At least I can go to my grave knowing I left my "little patch" in much better condition than when I found it.

Yeah, the spontaneous combustion is interesting.I suppose similar to pig fat and oily rags stored in tight boxes combusts.Interesting properties indeed. But I would think it would be a more region plating for maximum potential or things that do well in said region(s)..Kinda like perma culture for continual and seasonal harvests. But most farmers have a hard time switching due to government funding, and a pay day essentially in the bank for growing the way we do. A MASSIVE shift needs to take place or we are going for mass Die offs n shit and real issues.Short of Plague n Pestilence these days with a few fire around.

Myself I dont know enough about the machinery used.but its a helluva neat minimal system.certainly heading in the right direction.Needs to move faster,so I dunno How they will change it but it would be a easy enough process with few instructional sessions and true belief. But most dont wanna get outta there comfort zone.Learn more, change ,getting down into your crops to be that farmer. But I dunno man.
