New Grower Eng. Growers next endulgence

Hey Friends :gary:

Checked my Blue Monkey this morning and yes, she is starting pre bloom:goauto:

I expect a lot of growth now that we are around 80 degrees for the whole week. :meds:

That just seems so strange to be because I handle the same temperatures. It doesn't seem to be causing much issue here.

I wish we could figure out why you're having to wait months for the same growth I get in weeks.

Definitely a conundrum.

Miss Blue Monkey is in prebloom. She started scenting the entire room. The limbs naturally went horizontal for a perfect spread.

All the gurls are really taking off now! :frog:

How high up are your lights?

As high as they will go.

You may have found my issue with early growth, Sam!

I use to lower my lights down to about 18-20 inches above leaf heighth. But, my growth has not changed from then till now. They are ALWAYS tall & thin right out of the pot I start them in. No change. I read that some don't lower lights and let the plant grow up to it. Hasn't seemed to affect anything I am doing.

I think I might be afraid to water them to much, for example, I water the soil mix thoroughly just like I did my coco grows. Then it seems to be very wet untill I water them again. Am I doing that wrong? Should I not soak my pots before transplanting and only water them in after transplanting? I did this on my last one, the A. F. Cheese. And, our temps the past few weeks might be the problem. I am on a concrete slab. No basement or crawl space. My floors are cold during cold spells. Thinking about putting some insulation in my tent on the floor and having some air space under my pots to keep them off the cold concrete this Winter.

If you are having small plants...the cold floor is most likely the biggest issue. My tent is also on cold concrete....... I go to the hardware store and get 1 inch thick foam board insulation and put a square of it under each pot. I do this all year round. A cold root zone will cause slow growth.....

Then it seems to be very wet untill I water them again
Don't water soil until it has dried out properly.

Also...I saw a few pages back that you add chicken manure to your seedling mix....be cautious with chicken manure, it tends to be pretty hot. Auto seedlings like a nice light mix in the beginning of their life. If its to hot, you will get "mini" plants. At least from my experience. :baked:

Hope it helps :pass:

Thank you, @Frankthetank !

I already have found my insulation foam sheeting in my garage that I will use.

I added chicken manure, but was only 15% of total mix, per a recommendation. It was also composted manure. Was mixed into bottom 1/3 of soil with top 2/3 just light potting soil seed starting mix. I'm expecting to see them take off like mad when they reach the bottom 3rd of pots. Which they are close to doing now. The stalks of the first 2 largest are really swelling in size!

Plant strains are playing a roll also. You can definitely see a difference in plant structures in each one of these photos above.:chimp:
