Indoor Ebb and Flow Grow Journal (FireOG, PurplePunch)

Update on the drip system on the fire og bed , all set up and selected the 16 that will go on this bed. Have a buddy picking up my extras tomorrow. Sprayed with milk two days ago and will spray again tomorrow . Humidity has remained below 60% so climate is stable. Also I’m changing the res tomorrow so when I empty it I will try out the drip system I set up , anyone think that will be okay if I flooded today? Would that be overwatering ? It would be nice to have drip day on Sunday , nice end of the week rotation.

Looking pretty sweet with the new flora flex kit

Cool thing coming though I got a Pulse One WiFi hygrometer for my birthday so I’m excited to use it in the next week to collect some good data about my environment.

Sweet - let me know if you have any questions or run into any problems!

Just installed today , and I’m loving it. Just need to read up on vpd and controlling it a bit I’m around 1.8 right now . But the whole system is very convenient, easy to setup, and good peace of mind

And actually the only thing I’d say is the syncing with my regular hygrometer, showing a 10% difference

Could the difference be from how I’m hanging it? I have multiples of the regular ones in the room and they get the same reading why is pulse showing something 10% lower ?

Day 25 update: girls are doing pretty great . Have been flooding every 2 days now and they are loving it feed is around 850-900ppm on both beds, the Fire ogs have been exploding and have been requiring some pruning so I pruned them up two days ago and the Purple punches today. Definitely opened them up more. Have been top feeding once a week on both beds (DTW). Laid down my first line of netting for support and will flip a few days after they breach the first layer so I’m hoping in a 1-2 weeks I will be flipping them. Haven’t set my net on the purple punches because one of the trellis support beams won’t fit in the hole because of a bad weld. Figuring out what I can do to get the post in but it isn’t too dire as the PP’s have a bit to go only maybe a few days of growth behind the fires. Few issues I’ve been dealing with and have dealt with below:

I’ve mentioned my previous issue with PM and gnats, none have returned , I treated with the milk to water spray , then got recommended I safe spray at the hydro shop so I sprayed ph water after the milk for a few days to wash it off and used this spray as it was recommended to completely eliminate these , and I believe they did I will spray weekly until I flip to assure no issues carry on into flower.

Now a very dumb mistake I fed about 2 mil / gallon of cal mag too much in my PP bed, it was an accident I mixed up the numbers so I had to dilute the feed down a bit to 725ppm and managed that for a few days, the girls were a little pissed off but fought through the possible toxic level of cal mag. No major markings but they were droopy for a few days .

Also I have installed my Pulse hygrometer I like it but I am having issues getting consistent humidity readings which throw off my vpd so I’m not so stoked I’m going to contact the company after the weekend to see if I can tweak the placement or calibrate the machine better? Idk

Below I’ll show a photo of my only current deficiency on two of my fire ogs. Idk if anyone has any consensus on it it’s some brown spotting on the tip. Only occurs on 2 of 16 plants , im maybe thinking it’s too much cal mag I did use the recommended amount of 5ml from emerald harvest but I have been recommended to use less which I will try on this weekends res change.

And one final comment , I’m liking ebb and flow but my biggest issue has been keeping the bed clean and fully draining after floods , minimal algae builds up sometimes and it doesn’t seem all that cleanly. I have all them hooked up for a drip system I could switch to a DTW , I’m leaning more and more towards it every day haha my only thing to research would be how often to feed and measuring how much to feed

Beds are split with 16 fire ogs on one and then 10 Purple punch on right side of one bed with 7 fire ogs to the left

Sorry it’s been a while since my last update we are on to Day 2 of flower today and a lot has changed. I was getting a little bothered by the waste of flood and drain, as well as I was concerned with remaining water in the tray causing algae build up , which I tried to prevent by creating a bigger slant but then I had inconsistent watering with my back row so I switched to a DTW drip system which wasn’t the easiest to dial in but with a little help from Man on Green I was able to dial in my feeds to 20% run off and really balanced out the feed between all plants and the cleanliness of my beds have greatly increased. I liked flood and drain for a simple feeding method for veg but I really like the precision of dripping to waste and saving on nutes.
