Hello!

I really need some advice.

Anyone else ever had issues with DP and germinating their seeds? I DO NOT mean to be putting DP down, or I wouldn't be buying their stuff and trying like I am to use their beans as they ARE the business when they get going.

Ive NEVER had issues germinating seeds. In fact every seed I've bought has germinated for me.

I do it the paper towel plate method, or a plastic container with paper and a plate on top.

I've already been through one batch of 3 Auto Ultimates in October and none worked. I'm now on my second batch of 3 and having a nightmare. I will be honest, it's pissed me off because I've spent £60 on seeds and have nothing growing yet.

Before I go any further, as I don't want to put people off buying the seeds ALL of the seeds appear (look) brilliant.

This latest batch; 1 seed germinated, but the tap root curled slightly and after 6 days still had not popped out properly. With it being a week since I germinated it I decided to plant it and see how it goes. 2 days later and it's still not surfaced in the growing medium. It's still in there now I am hoping it gets going still.

I germinated another because i am desperate to get my grow going. The tap root has penetrated the seed, but it seems to have stopped just showing its head.

I have kept them in a small room in the house with the radiator on 24/7 and temperatures are around 21/24 degrees. Closer to 21 degrees. I thought this solved the problem as when I did this the tap roots popped through the shell slightly.

What am I doing wrong? What's strange is the seeds have lost their 'pattern' on the outside of the seed, they've gone black with the tap root showing but literally just showing, not coming out properly.

My phone camera is broken so I will upload pictures later so you can understand what I'm saying better.

Any advice will be great. Thanks all.

I'm a budget grower and can't afford to be spending so much on beans that dont work, or I cannot be affording to f**k up if it's my fault.

Could it be the seeds bank? First batch was from Seedsman and second batch from Discount Seeds (both UK)

Yea, happened to me too. Some seeds are just old or they don't want to break.
But DP is good company. Every great company will send you new fresh seeds.
Bad and shi**y company will just ignore you. But you'll know for the future where you'll invest your money.

Where you based mate? I used Seeds man all the time and never had a problem, in fact I always thought it was a really good service etc - but I'd never bought Dutch Passion. The other Discount Seeds is a one man show I believe that orders the seeds direct from DP and then sends them on too me.

I did 3 Mephisto last time and all three popped, even the freebie royal Queen Seeds popped and gave me 4 ounce.

What I don't understand is they all looked like perfect seeds. It's putting me off autos massively my latest experience it's just easier to get a healthy cutting off someone and grow that out

dont sound like your doing anything wrong might just have been old stock or something i thinks its best to go direct to the breeder if possible who knows how long the seeds are sitting around in the big seed vendors stock rooms

Indeed. I try to buy direct from Breeders first as well.

I bought mine from dopeseeds if it helps and there only 24quid and barely any P&P and the guy is sound af[emoji106] of your using tap water there could be something in it they don't like try some bottled water or summit

Cheers brother, I'm using bottled water and I check the pH is at 7 before I use it (don't know if that even means anything.

It's a shame as I can honestly say I won't be risking buying anymore of these seeds. The breeders should (not sure how they could) stop wholesalers from selling duds, as I'm probably going to go back to Mephisto now. Not prepared to throw £90 and only get one or two plants growing! I really wanted to try Auto Ultimate too, even dedicated a tent to it!!

Can you maybe explain your method from germination to sprout out of the ground in more detail?
May help people identify any problems.
