I Wanted to start a thread for everyone thats new to the site, that doesnt exactly know how to completely use it. Id like this to be for dumb questions, "as we all know, the only dumb question is the one never asked"
Ill start...when you click on settings at the top of the screen, it pulls up all the threads that you bookmarked so you can follow,(i just learned that the other day), well my question is, what do all the check boxes next to the thread names mean under the word "instant"? does that mean they instantly update on the thread?
oh yeah, and when posting a thread, what is a "trackback"?
these might sound real stupid to the pro's, but i have no clue..haha

Can we also ask dumb questions about growing that we're to afraid to ask?

Trackback system is very common on blogs and forums. When you create a new threat and you use a trackback url, that target server will know that your threat is reference him. Usually, articles have a section at bottom where they show all trackbacks to the article.

It's a nice way to share the source of some information, and keep the credits of that author ;)

wait a sec..i was way off..i re read it..its basically when we use someone else's info, right?

Yeah, it's more when you're talking about someone else article (so your article will be displayed as a comment in his article, something like "growbewan posted a new article about this article: your-url".
When you use the trackback url, your comment will be displayed on that article reference your article url (sorry if i can't explain it, damn english).

Here's a dumb one for you guys lol, When a site says that a strain will grow to 50cm does that mean 50cm from the ground or 50cm from where it sprouts out of the pot?

BAha! :crying: Really man? Alright, sorry. I had to bust your balls. This forum kinda asks for it. BUT

That size is the measurement from wherever it sprouts. If that just so happens to be a 14inch tall bucket, or a hole in the earth, 50cm is 50cm. Hope this helped brother.

Here's one we should all have a standard for but I don't think we do, when talking about age of a plant say "ya man she's 24 days old" are we talking since germination? Since seed was first dropped? Or we talking when seedling first breaks soil? I've seen it several ways. I always used popping above soil as my mark. But I'd state that like "my white Russian is at day 49 from breaking soil." what about u guys?
