Is light more of a factor than temperature when drying bud?
Unfortunately I only have two options:
A - dark attic but 50s F and as low as 40s at night or
B - closet that is well lit but 78F (ish)
*Good airflow in both areas

Neither is ideal. 70°F with RH 50%-60% dark and a little bit of air movement is best. You have come this far don't ruin it now. The buzz will remain but the aroma, flavors and smokability will be compromised in either of your choices. I think you better pick the warm one as the cold one is too cold and may allow bud rot to take hold.

I'll incorporate a little space heater then. smart advice, thanks

I can sling in another vote for paper bags in your situation. They can work well. If you can put a small hygrothermometer in there with your bud, you can adjust RH in the bag by how much you load it with bud.

Another idea is hanging branches in a large cardboard box, which is what I did last grow. I vented the box to my growdrobe inlet so the extraction fan could suck air through the cardboard box. The bud branches were hung in there on wires stuck through the cardboard on either side of the box. I installed a hygrothermometer by sticking in a carefully sized hole in the side of the box, and adjusted the RH in the box by adjusting the overlap of the duct with the growdrobe inlet - more air movement, lower RH in the box. You could do the same thing by using a small computer fan as an extraction fan, and adjusting the amount of extraction with an adjustable baffle over the inlet opening.

I had a small computer fan in there moving air around. The setup worked a treat, produced some seriously fine smelling and vaping bud, especially the Cosmic Queen.

I liked the box approach better than the bags because the buds don't have to get banged about losing trichs when mixing, and the drying conditions are more controllable.
Good luck with it. :pighug:

The slower the better on the dry. If you dry too fast you'll get yucky tasting buds. Drying and curing is the most important step in my opinion.

I use 28g wet into paper bags and bags into a fridge for 7 to 15 days. Perfect results every time
