New Grower DP AutoXtreme, AutoUltimate and one Automazar grow

Ok, i started the germinating process in Root Riot plant starter plugs this time.

I usually put the beans straight to soil in little cups but this time i wanted to try out the plugs, since some people recommend them. Anyway, they are in the plugs since 20th april and no seedling present at the moment. 3-4 of them got the taproot growing from the bottom already, so that was an relief.

What i noticed with those starter plugs is that they are hard to seal after the seed has been sewn (the hole just wont close, even after pinching). The another thing for me was to get dialed-in the watering of the plugs so they are moist but not saturated.

I hope to post an update (with pics) in few days stating that seedling has risen but lets wait and see :)

PS! i am using the "ballast" of the Hans Led under the tray as "heating mat" :)

Update 6 days in:

All the beans have sprouted nicely. Now i will be preparing the Airpots with (light, seedling) soil and then i will put the cubes in. I decided to "transplant" the cubes into 15L Air-pots, since the taproot is already visible on the bottom of the cubes, so i think its time to give the taproot a free room to grow downward.

Good start forestly.
What kind of seedling mix soil are you using?Does it contain sphagnum peat moss?
If it does have SPM, it tends to go acidic around weeks 4-6 and you need to add dolomite of lime or
crushed oyster shell to help buffer the ph.
Just a heads up,in case of SPM content.

Hei

Thank you for your input :) It is local soil, no Plagron here. Yes, it does contain peat moss and it already contains dolomite lime :)

Have you used that soil before and know that there is enough DoL to carry you through the grow.
There are a lot of potting soils that use SPM and supplement DoL to buffer. But they never seem to add enough.
Im not a soil grower but ive seen loads of soil grows on AFN go acidic coz of SPM and not enough buffer added by the manufacturer.
I suppose you will only find out if theres enough DoL added by using the soil,as adding more DoL when not needed could result in high ph.
Good luck with it anyways.

I havent used this soil. My last grow i strategized a little differently. I used normal soil (in regard of nutes inside) and GHE nutes, i did not like the results so much. Then i found AN and finished my last grow (3-4 weeks) with it, i liked the result. With AN nutes i have to use a soil which is poor in nutes or i will mess up the balance.Thats why i decided to grow this time from start to finish with AN and use a very light mix like Plagrons.

Exactly mate, i think i will not mess with the soil atm and let it go as natures wants, when deficiencies show i will react accordingly and i will know how this soil acts. If i start adding stuff to it now, the experiment will be harder to analyze.

sorry mate, i just vaped one and now the chain of thought is not as bright as i would like :D

Today is the 2nd day of grow

Transplant:Ok, another update. Just transplanted the girls from Root Riot starter cubes to soil (15L) and LED-s are 50cm from the canopy. Poured some very weak (2ml per 5L) Canna BioVega until it`s time to feed with AN nutes. All the plants are at the moment in one Growcabinet (1,2x1,2m), when they grow a little i will relocate them in other two cabinets.

Lights: Hans LED (80W) 2 of them atm. I will be running a 24/0 light regime. Switch to 20/4 probably soon, so plants get rest too.

Hei Grim Reefer, nice to see you here :)

Yes, i have grown for a while (6 years) so i have experienced some, but i regard myself still as a novice. The more time passes, the more i see how much is there to learn and i love it ;)

PS! if i posted this grow journal into wrong section, please excuse me. Maybe some moderator can transfer this one into the right place, if necessary :)

Thank you for subbing, i hope not to disappoint. I will be updating a lot, since it`s my first journal and it should be a nice tool to use, for looking back at your progress.

:Grow & Show..:

Its a pleasure and Im sure you will do really well man.
Yes Its great having a journal online to go back and learn from at anytime, i always use my old journals as a reference to my newer grows.
Technically you have your journal made in the right place as you are new to the AFN, making you a new grower.
As you said you have a good bit of experience so i could ask a mod ( see what they think) to change it to the DP section for you if you like.
