Seen some growers grow the same strain by auto seeds called diesel berry auto. 1 grow diary the plant in soil was ready in week 9 but small plant and only yielded .6 oz of bud. Another diary a grower harvested a bigger plant in soil than the first diary and it produces 2.5 ounces. My plant is way bigger than both of those soil diaries and its just not finishing at 11 weeks and 4 days now, in 3 more days she will be 12 weeks and still seems to be a ways away. She's fattening up and throwing some orange or reddish pistils now but mostly still white pistils. No amber trichs. Not sure if they're clear or cloudy or a mix as its hard to tell right now cuz I know there definitely not done yet and have a few weeks to go I feel. But my question is why is my hydroponics deep water culture plant taking so much longer to finish than the soil plants in other grow diaries? I'm guessing mine has somewhere between 2 to 4 weeks to go still. Won't be sure til she finishes how long exactly but I'm hoping it's soon. Lol, 75 days claimed by the breeder and I'm at day 81 already. This is my first run with autos after growing photos for years so I'm trying to figure out the autos.

Is it the hydro system extending the grow? Or just bigger plants take a little longer to finish than smaller plants?

There are a lot of variables in every grow. DWC does grow bigger plants generally but not always. And if given optimal conditions may take a little longer to mature. More likely is genetic variation. No two seeds are the same and you may have got a pheno that takes longer. I cannot remember ever having plants done on the breeders schedule regardless to the style of growing I was using. Usually two weeks longer. I had the Wild Thailand go 5 weeks over the estimate. It is really worth it though as the weed is special in flavor and buzz.

I grow DWC and am a noob on fourth grow but have had the same question or thought since the beginning. Lot of things can be held accountable I agree but I think the time can be shortened as you progress with future grows.
I think the cold can slow things down by 2 weeks or more depending. When I ran room temps in the high 60’s low 70sF they were slower. I got my temps up to low80’s and they are faster.
I use Megacrop, (1.0) and because it’s an all in one i didn’t add a bloom booster at first sign of flowering it would push a bit longer. Now I jump on the bloom booster faster and got a week back.
I have had better luck with certain breeders. DP is great genetics but when I plant multiple seeds I usually get one DP if the exact same strain that just wants to go huge and long. Maybe that plants genetics are just looking for a cue in hydro that’s not working in DWC buckets. I have had really good luck with FB stuff finishing much closer. But that will also be subjective. I’m going to try Mephisto for the first time next run and I think that might be a good finisher but not sure.
My current thought process is to try medium yield plants in hydro and max them out hopefully getting 5-6 oz each. The heavy yieldes seem to want to go on forever, I’ve had a DP Brooklyn sunrise and a DP glueberry go 16 weeks in hydro and they were fluffy. 8oz but fluffy.
None of that may be relevant or helpful but just some thoughts
